Because, Liam, I am an Apollonian, and I guess I've never really changed since the Apollo times. I always tried not to get emotionally attached to this place because it had been the right thing to do back in 2000... I guess I finally lapsed during the Great Consolidation when there was this awesome spirit of rebuilding the nation together. I got attached. Started to think Shirithian matters are my personal matters. And now, with people like Hasan and Jake around to whom playing a (not always very agreeable) personality seems natural, and with my own inability to keep distance... by Ugh, I'm feeling like Bill

So... yeah. When you feel like that, the best thing to do is to get out of politics... though it seems now that just getting out of the Landsraad won't be enough.
Besides, you were entitled to *something* as a loyal Straylightian. (remember, in Straylight, loyalty has little to do with agreeing on anything with your duke) Other duchies have been building nifty local governments - with only the two of us currently active here right now there wouldn't have been much of a point in that... so, hey, letting you handle the Landsraad for now seems like a good idea.
And besides that, whatever your own feelings might be, I don't really expect loyalty from Straylightians, because... loyalty isn't in our culture
