Maybe none of the Landsraad's business, but...

I think there's a tradition that needs changing. Namely, the "no foreigner can be Kaiser" tradition.

Kaiser Hasan I and new Kaiser Ric have both been Babkhans who quit their Babkhan citizenship in order to get the throne. I expect that now that Hasan's no longer Kaiser, eventually he'll join Babkha again. That's too easy. The Kaisership of Shireroth is a big enough prize that of course a contender would be willing to temporarily emigrate and then reimmigrate three months later in order to win it. That says nothing about the Kaiser's loyalty. I think Kaiser Hasan WAS loyal, but the next guy to try that stunt might not be.

So, I suggest a new tradition. A Kaiser must not currently be a citizen of a foreign power, and must not have been a citizen of a foreign power for a month or so (the time is flexible) before he becomes Kaiser.

I don't know whether the one-cit rule is a Landsraad Law, a Kaiserial Decree, or a Prophetic Tradition, but whoever's in charge of it should consider changing it.

The Charter, I think. And like everyone knows the Charter can only get changed with approval of the Kaiser and Praetor.

Section C: Heir to the Throne.
The Kaiser before the end of his life reign as Kaiser must pick a successor from among all living individuals, eligible by birthright. Should the Kaiser die or abdicate the throne, the Kaisership shall pass to his successor. Should no heir have been chosen, the successor shall be the closest related, living individual eligible by birthright. The Kaiser may hold no citizenships outside of Shireroth.

It is worth noting at this juncture that the newly appointed Kaiser has renounced his Stormarker citizenship and never had Babkhan citizenship to begin with.

Enough trickery, enough twisting of law and tradition to suit the ego.

The Landsraad settled the last affair, and the Landsraad can settle this.

I was hoping we didn't have to get this far in all this drivel... Ah, well...

Drivel !?

I'm shocked to hear a would be Kaiser speak thusly. Of course, we are all in trauma, and unguarded utterances may well come forth in our grief.

I am sorry, my Lord. My apologies. I find that the situation is getting clearer and clearer by the hour. Thus the need for clarifications would be unnecessary.

Actually, this is the most fun I've had following the events in Shireroth since, well, the War of the Sightseers (I was not around during the communist rebellion). It broke my heart to see Shireroth act all dickish on the international scene lately... but an actual rebellion where the only people who might get their feelings hurt are Shirithians (who all understand that feeling hurt is, well, not exactly the point) is a different matter. We're having a grand ol' time here! :demon

When you're putting it that way... ;)

To be honest. I don't support changing the tradition. It would only make it harder to have a Kaiser. Now it isn't a problem to find a succesor, but there where (and there will again be) times the Empire wasn't as active as it is now. And then we need a strong Kaiser, even if he or she was the day before citizen of another nation.

oh yeah. I kinda agree. At least at the moment. I don't think it would be prudent to make such a change. Seems a bit.. reactionary.

The Stewardship was promised to Liam. Kaiser Loki II keeps his word.

If "Loki" keeps his word, than I must be removed as Duke in favour of the Khan.

Hasn't the Kaiser already said that he won't replace you?

Then he breaks his word to his own supporter, Ardashir.

Link to where he's promised Elwynn to Ardashir then?

Convenient. I too want to say things without proving them.

Go ahead, ask him. If he denies it, he denies it. But I highly doubt he will.

And if he denies it, you will say that he's lying, right? So you are right anyway.

If he denies it, I won't call him anything. I just want to see him completely deny it. The last time I asked him about it, he "softened" the accusation but did not deny it outright.

I did not promise Elwynn to Ardy.

Today, however, seeing as that the current Duke of Elwynn stands in rebellion against me, I did tell several people that I would like to see this attitude on the part of an important vassal change to a more positive one.

Should the name of this Duke be Hasan, all well and good. If it be Ardy, fine.

Hasan, how about this? If you believe andelarion should be Kaiser, then he would make a fine Duke. Let him apprentice, as it were as Duke of Elwynn.

That makes no sense what so ever. And if anything it gives you a nice arrangement by which to achieve your goals. How does "apprenticing" as a duke stop your rebellion against him? He is the Kaiser, you are not. You've rebelled against the laws of the state and thrown your own personal ambition before the well being of the nation. You've proven you've no respect for the rule of law, and you stand as the single most selfish claimant to the throne I've seen since the last time you threatened civilwar when you didn't get your way. Agreements and dealings aside, for your selfishness alone I oppose you.

Someone get the Duke a mirror!

He is the one who drug an essentially nice guy into a conflict between large egos.
