Ending the War

Can we just get it done? I appreciate Shireroth has, and to maintain my sanity I really just should stop reading Battleground as it's so depressing, and I know it's a character flaw in me that when I see things that are clearly wrong or need to be said I go into arguing mode to defend them and I have great trouble resisting ... but I'd still prefer if I didn't have to.
That is, I'm asking can the Shirithian allies stop doing anything on MCS that won't cause the complete cessation of the war and forgetting all the bad parts? I know Jeremy's going to take anything badly, but if it at all legally/humanly possible, a swift cessation would be really appreciated. Even if they have been utter ****** about the whole matter, I think any means we have of taking it out on them won't work at the moment, and if you're really still bitter and can't forgive them, the best thing might be to create a secret forum to quietly plot long term revenge, rather than making MCS claims ...
Anyway, I've said my bit. It's rather more a personal request than a petition to the Landsraad, but it seemed an appropriate enough place to place this ...

I'm really sorry but the Batavian system requires some time to approve a peace treaty! The general can sign war or peace declerations. I don't even be sure the king can sign peace.
It's depressing indeed... the Batavian public is annoyed...
I think it will take a while before Batavia will play in a RecWar again...

I'm not angry at you for having a system Jonas, that's fine, most nations do. I'm just annoyed that those we fight take any attempt to do things properly that might take more time as stalling ...
(though, if I may be so bold, in Gralan experience its better to have a smaller executive body to approve Treaties and the like so it can be done faster, rather than relying on the full legislative body. Eg we have the Triumvirate approve Treaties, meaning if (as normally happens) I organise one, I only need to get Bayen or Lachlan's ok and its official.)

In Babkha it's just a matter of approval of the Grand Vizier, and unless the Shah kicks in, its accepted.

Well the Majlis does ratify the important treaties - tactical truces and such like however can be deferred to the Shahyiar Palace for actioning via Farman.

In fact though, The Majilis hasn't voted on a treaty in years I don't think.

Grand Commonwealth Charter and the ending of the same, 2005 & 2007 respectively I think.

I stand corrected.

I didn't think that was because it was important but more because it changed the way power was distributed in the Kingdom (military and foreign affairs to the GC).

But that surely made it extremely important - as important in comparative terms as the European Constitution/Treaty of Lisbon/Treaty Amending the Treaty of European Union, is to Britain.

I suppose. "Important" is such a vague term especially when we're talking about treaties.

Important is when an external commitment affects the internal workings of the group.

What about strategic importance? Let's say for some strange reason the Foreign Minister of Babkha decided to ally our glorious nation with Bosworth and riscind the Mango-Camel Pact. Doesn't affect the internal workings of Babkha at all - except that many of us would quickly be hunted down and burnt to the stake in one nation or the other.

I digress - the point is that the treaty of alliance with Bosworth would still be important.

Well there is the precedent of law. I mean the Vizier of Foreign Affairs cannot act in contradiction to previous treaties. Otherwise anything contrary to those would be seen as invalid. I don't believe its outlined as such, but treaties in the Kingdom are generally on par with law.

I understand the mobile guillotine still works pretty well. The Shahyiar Palace would not have any difficulty overriding a rogue VFA.
