By your own hand, Lord Duke? Was life so empty that you had to cut it short like that? That was a very sad post, and I regret reading it, though it is beautifully set and executed. The Duke will be missed indeed.

Cut short? I've been duke for a really long time. If I was a character who went by ASC... I'd be ancient... And I said nothing about empty.. just.. Done. It was time. While I understand your religions calls it a sin, in other cultures you are allowed to brings things to an end when the time comes. And as with many of my story type posts, it had a theme of being trapped by power and authority, now he is free. It wasn't a dark thing, or a sinful thing. It was simply a beautiful and silent end.

Well, if no Brookshirians show soon, I'll move here. I miss the Landsraad, dumbest thing I did in Shireroth was leave the Landsraad.

No that Ben isn't a good Duke. Yardistan is in good hands.

Eh,

no, let's rescue Duke Erik, Hero of the War.

(Reaches in the deepest pocket of his robe.)

Jake to Improvise, are you there Admiral? Emergency!

Rigor Mortis? It's either a condition associated with death or a malevolent cousin of the ducal family - not entirely sure which.

Perhaps we should BO0O/\/\ Brookshire back to nothingness like in the good old days of hysterical inactivity and grant its lands to a suitable successor Duchy... perhaps Yardistan? Sign here milord late Duke. :document

(An oddly musical series of tones is heard, followed by sparkles of light, resolving itself into three figures.)

"Bones, over here, quick!" said the Admiral.

(The second figures runs over to a very stiff elderly man.)

"Bones, can you do anything?"

"He's dead, Jim."

(The third figure, dressed in a red shirt, takes ten steps and falls into a crack in the ground.)

"AAAAYYYYYEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!"

"He's dead too, Jim."

So, is there a way that solves the "who is Duke problem" without involving me?

I was also thinking we should have a "Duke of New York "A" Number "1" but I doubt many people would appreciate the hilarity.

You are missing a quotation mark...

And this can be dealt with, without the Kaiser. Yes.

How about Yardistan as a caretaker until a Brookshirian steps forward.

Maksym would probably like the job, if anyone can find him......

I'd like to be a Duke someday .... but I love Kildare far too much. So count me out of this discussion. Hmm, Hypatias Mom is probably happy in Kildare too, I wouldn't trust Ardy with a Duchy .... unless you want to give his Niftiness one, it might have to be a Yardistani citizen ....

And, actually, I'm not really well enough at present to rule Brookshire, and I do like Kildare. Someone who is able to be more active and imaginative in leadership should be in that role. Hmmm, perhaps someone with a lot of experience who knows Shireroth from its inception? I wonder who might fill that position best?

Problem is, Bill's long gone. :fish

Erik, can you just remain interim Duke until a Brookshire...an(? What is the official word for that?) returns and is active and can fill the position?
