Policy on guest posters

If I recall correctly, long ago the board used to be configured to disallow guest posting. There might even have been an official law or decree about it... well, be that the case or not, those settings have kind of disappeared somewhere over the years, and I don't even know which forums currently allow guests to post.

So... any thoughts? The ezBoard times are long over and there's no guarantee that J. Random Micronationalist has an account on our forum, so I think disallowing guest posting everywhere is not a terribly good idea. Actually, if you ask me, I'd allow guest posting everywhere except the Landsraad, because I find that although there haven't been many in Shireroth's history, random posts by unregistered people (usually in rather random places, too) tend to have been sources of amusement...

Someone clearly hasn't had great trouble with spam posters before ....

Actually, we had a rash of these spam posters during my reign. Moose got rid of them, and they haven't resurfaced. I think that it is alright for new people to post, but if it is obvious that the poster is a bot or a hacker, their login can be banned and their post deleted. That seemed to solve the problem then, and proved to be adequate.

I think we can edit them (the spammers, that is). I didn't have time to be terribly creative on this one.

I see no real reason not to allow it myself...
