War On Geiss

To My Stewart and Cabinet:
Recently, it has come to my attention that there is a rather large war building on Geiss. While I don't know the details of the conflict, I've received two separate requests for military assistance. As well as a number of questions regarding Shireroth's interest in this. Up until this point I have not considered Shireroth being involved or effected in anyway. However many of our allies are involved and would like to hear from my cabinet as to their preferred course of action.
I should also state there has been some mention of this war becoming relevant to Micras as well.

If the war were to become relevant to Micras I would be most interested in hearing about this ...
But if it remains on Giess, or in its current state, it doesn't actually directly involve any of our allies. Extreme as a bunch of Tribesman vs Zindaria, which is about to come to a peace anyway, and Adraisia vs Ocia, neither of whom I believe are our allies? While other allies are involved in peace-keeping etc, they aren't directly involved yet. My suggestion would be, while it remains on Giess, we ignore it. After all, that is in the mapping organisation we never mention ...
If it did spread to Micras, that's an entirely different matter and I'd then suggest relooking at the situation. Unless we wanted to quickly invade Zindaria back on Micras and take the Flying Islands of Jasonia back
But also note that, at this stage, it's under ZRS rules, which are quite different to any other Recwar system, and puts an awful lot of power in the hand of the judge. I'm not sure the judge for this war really wants it to go on much longer, but it is very different from the SNARL we know or love ...

Thought you might like that idea, Jonas ... I'm game.

I support war on Giess. DESTROY IT, ISILDUR!
...unless you mean "war taking place on Giess" rather than "war against Giess" in which case it's taking place on a false demon-world and none of our business.

Would us sending troops make a difference one way or the other?

How could we get to Geiss anyway? I could ask Admiral Quirk, but he keeps not-interfering.
Would we want a foothold there to expand Shireroth?
I'm lukewarm at best.

Yes its war taking place on Giess. Shireroth would be influential on one side or another and likely we'd be a key factor of victory. We are able to participate via the Hurmu Gate (with Stormarks participation on the one side and Babkha on the other). I've looked more into this and its (as usual) unclear whether there is actually a war or not.

I'm sure we could rally some troups. My Militia is ready out of Monty Crisco to deploy. I can load them up onto the RSS Excalibur, send that close enough, then launch the planes to paradrop into the fray.

We can look into the situation further, I will wait to hear from the MoMA first.

Ok: Take the Kaiser Mors V, I'll load the cruise missiles, and off-load the gambling equipment.

They say a week is a long time in micronationalism ... well a day can be a long time when in a Recwar ...
At this stage, and this is speaking as someone who's been closely involved in the situation, the war seems over. Adraisia has withdrawn from Ocia. And peace talks are almost ready between Goloni and Zindaria. So our interference doesn't seem merited. But of course MoMA would understand the military side better - I'm mainly commenting on the diplomacy ...

As far as I am concerned the Kaiser Mors V and the Elwynnbrigaden would be sufficient in themselves to pacify the Goloni region. The question at the moment is whether there is any real need to. The destabilising factor in the whole Zindarian scenario has been the intervention of outside powers and the Ardraisian-Ocian 'Incident' has drawn some of the heat out of that.
That said I think that Shireroth should look into the potential for developing a capacity for intervening 'off-world'. The Giessans can't really be trusted to keep their own affairs in order so I guess someone in the meta-universe will have to look out for those of our allies who were deluded enough to settle there while they were under the regrettable influence of the Great Satan/Y'Brekki.

A question unrelated to this ... is it Steward or Stewart? Just I've seen Stewart in the banking thread and this thread, and am quite sure it should be Steward ...

Steward I think. Stewart is more of a bastardisation of Old English into Scots which left us with the Stuart Dynasty whom I despise.

Steward > Stewart > Stuart.
Why do you despise that particular dynasty? My pseudohistorical connection is through a fictitious individual of questionable legitimacy, so I'm interested.

James I was a Scots interloper on the English throne, Charles I was an ineffectual weakling, Charles II whored English foreign policy for French gold, James II attempted to force a Catholic restoration which dragged England into a new civil war in Ireland and Scotland and became a pawn of French foreign policy, ditto for his son and the Young Pretender. Mary and Anne almost redeemed the dynasty but they died without leaving a heir to throne - which dumped the Hanoverians on us... and you Americans can all recall from school the mess
they made of things.

Their are a few gramophone recordings of Edward VII. He had a German accent you could cut with a chainsaw.
(No offense to our new citizen, of course.)
James I was a Scots interloper on the English throne.
He was nearest by blood, after his mom got the axe. Was there a Tudor (Welsh interlopers) or Lancaster/York asperant?
Hey, King James Bible, Shakespeare & all like that?
Charles I was an ineffectual weakling,
True.
Charles II whored English foreign policy for French gold,
Well, if Parliament would have just given them what he said he needed......
James II attempted to force a Catholic restoration which dragged England into a new civil war in Ireland and Scotland and became a pawn of French foreign policy,
True.
....ditto for his son and the Young Pretender. Mary and Anne almost redeemed the dynasty
And Mary's husband. Maybe Parliament should have gone with the House of Orange.
but they died without leaving a heir to throne - which dumped the Hanoverians on us... and you Americans can all recall from school the mess they made of things.
True enough. I should work on Prince Melvin's origins a little, at least as an excuse to read up on the period again.
http://www.shireroth.org/shirewiki/Prince_Melvin

John Adams (and others) brought up the idea of what later was called Dominion status.
We've discussed this elsewhere, but for other folks, imagine an alternate world wherein the entire British Empire was linked together, including the U.S. and India. (The Indian Empire, including today's Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma).
Such an entity could have kept Hanover, thus there would have been no German Empire, thus no World Wars as we new them. Imagine a world where the millions slaughtered in both wars would have lived to manhood.
Peace.
Pax Britannica to the nth power. Of course the Czar Alexander VII and Napoleon V might have been some problems......

There was not equivalent of Lady Jane Grey but there was I think some members of the English Aristocracy with some semblance of a claim.
Hey, King James Bible, Shakespeare & all like that?
I think the King James Bible and the works of Shakespeare would have received patronage from the powers that be whoever they happened to be. Though its impossible to speculate on how the politics of the time would have effected the nuances of either body of work.
...
The easiest thing would have been for the crown to have been offered to the King of Denmark instead of the Elector of Hanover. After that the best way to defuse the nightmare of Germany would have been for the insurgent Reichstag of 1848 to have offered the crown to the King of England rather than the King of Prussia (seriously what did those democrats think the Prussians were going to do to them).
Of course the Czar Alexander VII and Napoleon V might have been some problems......
Ah the Naval Convention with Japan kept Russia in check and Britain could have shifted the decks with Austria and Prussia to maintain a balance of power in Europe. Besides the Ruskies would be about as formidable as they are to day but without the nukes if they had been trapped under the dead hand of Czarism rather than the death dealing hand of Stalinism.

Very Large Grin.
Now we are getting good and Laumerish. The first real model I had in my head when Cognito sprang forth was the

Now I've got my head round that, Keith Laumer provides us with a very good template for waging an interdimensional war against a parallel micronational universe as per Scott's original request.
Jacobus, as you have read these books, an edge you have over me, and in view of your experience in the Cyberias I should like to declare you Director of the Special Operations Division: Interdimensional/Temporal (SOD:IT) of MoMA. If you consent I will draw up the appropriate orders.

There are Scots that do not accept the current monarch as Elizabeth
II, beacause Elizabeth I was not Queen of Scotland.
Long story, no time.......
