California and a Wedding

For those of you who have always been encouraging me to get off my arse and head out to California, well, it took a woman to finally make it happen.
As I have been alluding to for a while, I'm getting married. The wedding is this Saturday, the 15th. The next morning we fly out of Albany and, after a quick layover in Jersey, it's a straight flight to LA. I'll be in LA for two days, and then be driving up the coast on Rt. 1, staying one day per city, for six days, before ending in San Jose and flying back Sunday.
The itinerary is thus:
Sunday - Flight Out/Arrive in Santa Monica
Monday - In LA for the day
Tuesday - Santa Barbara
Wednesday - San Luis Obisipo/Solvang
Thursday - Big Sur
Friday - Monterey
Saturday - San Jose
Sunday - Flight Back/Leave San Jose
I seem to remember a good deal of Shirerithians living in California. If anyone wants to meet up, just let me know by Friday night at the latest.
Oh, and wish me luck!

Ryan, congratulations on your wedding. Everyone else, I've met Ryan before and can vouch for him not being an axe murderer and being fun to hang out with. *briefly wishes he still lived in the States*
(I am a little worried that Ryan's meeting micronationalists on his honeymoon, though. That's a new low for this hobby

)

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
a mere testament to his level of geekery, but to his credit a trip up the California coast is not a bad idea for a nice leisurely honeymoon. stopping in quaint (overpriced) costal towns, the sea breaze always in your nostrils . . .
DAMNIT! now i wanna visit santa cruz

My wife used to live in LA, so she's meeting some of her friends while we're out there too. She asked if I wanted to meet any of my friends while we were out there. Kind of a quid pro quo.
I doubt I'll be going back to California for a while after this trip. It's quite expensive.

Sadly.. I won't be in San Jose on the date specified. I can't afford the gas to get down there and work and all that.

Ryan--
We (Carol and Renee) live in Fremont, at the southeastern tip of the San Francisco Bay, about 12 miles north of San Jose. We would love to meet up with you and your lovely new bride. Congratulations, and best wishes for a wonderful marriage.
You will really enjoy the trip up Highway 1. It's one of the most scenic in the country, and impossible to rush. We took the trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles on our honeymoon, to my husband's apartment, so we enjoyed the views. I hope you have a good camera and either lots of film or lots of room in your computer.
It's really too bad you don't have time for San Francisco. If you're this close, you might as well go another 40 miles up Hwy. 101 and see it. It's worth the extra few hours for sure.
And, whatever you do, don't buy gasoline in Gorda, near Big Sur. It's selling there for well over $5.00 per gallon, the highest in the country, I believe. Buy it early. It's the only gas for 50 miles in either direction.
Have a great trip.

Ryan--
Congratulations to you and your new bride. I pray your marriage will be one of joy and fulfillment, and that you have a long and happy life together.
Please let us know when we can meet you in San Jose next weekend, if that is still on. Renee has to work that day, unfortunately, but I am available in the afternoon.
Again, much happiness to you both.

'Tis a shame I don't live in Cali. Been there once though, actually in San Jose. Too hot there for my liking. Come to Illinois if you really want to seeith me

Jess, I'm not quite sure anyone really has a desire to visit you. You're in the middle of nowhere...

Illinois is hardly the "middle of nowhere".
Chicago is the third largest city in the United States. 2.8 million in the incorporated city, 9.something-or-other million in the metropolitan area.
It's the middle of something.......

Well, I'm back from California. Gotta admit I really liked it.
Redwoods rock!

We ended up taking around 300 photos on my digital cam...
And Carol - Sorry I missed your message. We got into San Jose late anyways and didn't spend much time there after all. Hopefully I'll be back out in Cali again in the near future, probably in the north this time, as I want to see San Francisco.
I'll put up a wedding photo for everybody as soon as my mother-in-law gets them to me (she did all the photography). The wedding went great, and Cindy (my wife) looked gorgeous. Everyone is very happy, especially me. And thank you all for your warm wishes.

Ryan--
I think all of us wished to have met up with you and Cindy. We hope to see you out here again in the near future. I'm glad things went well, and that you enjoyed your trip to Califonia. Yes, the redwoods are awesome. The giant sequoias in Yosemite and in Sequoia National Parks are even more amazingly huge!! You'd be blown away by Yosemite. Just let us know and we can find a place to meet up with you when you return. Hope you and Cindy have a wonderful life together. Can't wait to see the pictures.
