Confessions of the Khan

An occasional series
I Ardashir Khan, being of sound body and mind, at least in comparison to Idi Amin, do freely confess my sins and repent with regards to the following:
1. I accept that the Grand Commonwealth was a bloody awful idea that was badly designed and executed being as it was the product of a committee whose participants had wildly and ultimately diverging interests. I accept my part in bringing it into being but I continue to blame Iain for having the idea in the first place.
2. The Commonwealth wildly exaggerated its own strength whilst at the same time sapping the strength of its consituent members by drawing off such personnel as were required to staff its infernal bureaucracy.
3. I regret that it took me until this year to realise that the Commonwealth was a curse upon all involved and had to be destroyed.
That out of the way I would like to negotiate an appropriate penance... I should however stipulate that being slowly digested by a sandworm over the course of a thousand years does not constitute appropriate penance regardless of what some might think...

Now you're making me wish I had a time machine
Seriously, this thread is no fun now that the Great Satan has been slain... couldn't you have come to this realisation back in 2005?

Sorry, I was too high on megalomania and misplaced optimism back then.

A toast! To horrible ideas that we did anyways!

Come now Braden, we all know Ardy only drinks dry stouts... and by the keg.

Nice to hear that wonderful truth finally grace micronationalism, I must say
Whilst of course some nations in the Commonwealth such as Babkha and to an extent Aerlig/Treesia were forces to be reckoned with, most were just shells of nations kept to increase the organisation's stige.

Iain reckons that the Commonwealth will return...

I'd be surprised. Without Babkha wanting in, there's no way

He said something about Babkha is going to get kicked out because disobedience

I swear Babkha left the commonwealth ages ago?

Babkha did, but the GC maintained all the time that the secession was illegal, null and void. So they keep looking at Babkha as a province of the Commonwealth, until they kick us out or something :P

I find your use of the word
they quite novel. I'd be surprised if the GC had more than one active bureaucrat these days.

Meh. Oh well, my bad. But my point is, they're not exactly the most active organisation around, are they?

They're dead in my opinion. And as Shah of Babkha I shall see them that way.

Good good. One of the rare occasions I have had the honour to agree with a Babkhan

While Iain would gleefully uses legalisms to argue that night is day and day is night the Grand Commonwealth is dead, Karnali is inactive, and the last Commonwealth bureaucrats expelled from Shahanshahi-Tara by a United Baronies police action.

Don't feel too bad, 'twas probably a good idea at the time.
Hey, I wandered into what I thought was a recwar eight years ago, and there is still the occasional flare-up from it..........

So is UBAT fully independent, then?

Completely - and the only member of the Commonwealth to leave *legally* as in follow the process for secession through to completion as opposed to the Babkhan approach of citing rights of sovereignty and self-determination or the Karnalian strategy of dying.

Shame, too. Karnali seemed such a good nation. And by far made the best use of a freewebs site I've seen in my time in micronationalism. What of Treithar and Interland, then?

Never saw the Karnalian website - but their forums were proboards and goood. Plus they had a GC button made in the proboards style.
Treithar's doing stuff, Interland has been dead completely over a year hasn't it? I seem to remember it physically being in the archives on the GC boards.
