Fan death is a South Korean urban legend which states that an electric fan, if left running overnight in a closed room, can result in the death (by suffocation, poisoning, or hypothermia) of those inside. This belief also extends to air conditioners. Fans manufactured and sold in Korea are equipped with a timer switch that turns them off after a set number of minutes, which users are frequently urged to set when going to sleep with a fan on.

Me and my roommate were watching some South Korean starcraft one night (yes, this is a regular thing for us) and there was a sort of public service announcement about that. It was... interesting. Then Boxer won and we didn't care anymore.

I've watched a couple of StarCraft matches on YouTube. They're... er... well, let's say I'm not particularly interested in watching any more :p

That would qualify as the worst game ever to me...

1.. it was an SCV rush...
2. it wasn't even a matched fight... the zerg guy had nothing...
3. No protoss! :)

Dude... even against a nobody, you gotta have a pair to try to pull something like that off.

I guess... There is the risk he could have swamped the SCV and the 2 marines... A fair supply of zerglings would have made it short lived.. it was mostly those marines ripping up the place..

Or even a sunken colony...

Meh, I would have gone with zerglings, personally...

That's always a good quick option... but I think he was thinking it would be a long drawn out game so was planning ahead.. while the "winner" just wanted to do a rush game... which I consider a lamer tactic...

"lamer" tactic? Half the skill in even a semi-professional game is at least withstanding, if not inflicting, the wave of peons that inevitably comes within 5 minutes of starting.

I can remember a few choice games where I got Mike (plays semi-pro starcraft) with his pants down. Mmmm... firebat rush...

I am incredibly disappointed that you can't make walls... my tactics would work so much better...

Wooo! Starcraft! One of the games that actually runs on Linux. :thumbsup

Yes, with Wine, which tends to be rather hit and miss (though Starcraft runs perfectly)...

I'm good, though, I stopped playing new games at around the same time I got into Linux. Wine's probably good enough these days that if I cracked and got a... well, a new computer altogether, but as a primary requirement an nVidia graphics card, I could probably actually play the new stuff decently. I'm not planning to do that as long as their cards don't have decent free software drivers, though...

The OS nVidia drivers are actually not too bad. Running Fedora 8 on a system with an 8800GTX, recognized it and loaded the appropriate drivers right away.
