Line of succession

Ok, one of the things that's been pointed out to fix is the line of succession of the kaisership. As best I can tell, the current line of succession was put in place by Imperial Decree #96 (for those of you who want to check), and is as follows:

1. Erik of Brookshire
2. Nick of Yardistan
3. Scott of Hyperborea
4. Jadie of Goldshire
5. Greg of Amity and Mirioth
6. Joseph of Kildare

Obvously, the only two who are really even in the nation anymore are Scott and Greg, since everyone else has either emmigrated (in the cases of Erik, Jadie, and Joseph), or gone inactive (in the case of Nick), unless I'm mistaken about Nick's current status. This definitely proves to be a big problem.

So, I would like to come up with 5-8 names to put on a new line of succession, just a list of people we can call on in times of trouble, when our Kaiser disappears. (Alternately, we could list the offices whose occupants would take the job, as in the presidential succession in the US.) These people do not necessarily need to be people who would actively want the job in the case of a kaiser abdicating (like me), but who would be willing to be approached by their country to lead in times of trouble. Hopefully once we hammer out a decent list, our Kaiseress would be so kind as to decree it.

I would like to also come up with a timetable of events, for how we should go about replacing an inactive kaiser. Someone else (was it David?) proposed replacing the kaiser after 6 weeks, but this is far too long for a micronation. My idea is to have it be closer to 2-3 weeks of no one hearing from him/her, at which point the Steward would be in charge of approaching the people in the line of succession until someone steps forward to take the job. Ideally, no one on the list would be forced to take the kaisership, as long as someone else was left who could take it.

So, name away. I think that people who should be considered for the list include David, Greg, Ari, Scott, Moose (if he bothered re-immigrating), and myself. (I would want to be put near the bottom of the list.) Once we have a group of people named, can those named step forward and express their willingness to be on the list, and how highly they would like to be placed?

How about H4773r? He has a lot of energy and ingenuity.

the list should be a combination of names and offices. Offices will allways be up to date.

While I'm not eager to be the heir of our current Kaiseress, I'll happily take the position if there's no-one else who wants to take it. I'm willing to be placed anywhere in the line of succession.

Ari, that's good to hear that you're willing to be on the list. You should probably be near the bottom, given your opinion on the matter.

David, would you be willing to be on the list, and if so, where? And do you have an idea for what order we should have for offices? And whether the list of names or the list of offices would be used first?

I think Hatter could be a good candidate for the list, but I don't quite recall how long he's been a citizen. Hatter, would you like to be on the list, and if so, what sort of placement would you want?

I would be happy to be on it, though I would not advise having me at the top. However, if no one else takes top spot, I would not complain.

Order could be....

Person Named as First Choice by the current Kaiser
Named Person who is Steward & Duke
Semi Retired Assistant Minister of the Interior
Named Person who is Minister of Interior & Duke
Named Person who is Preator & Duke
Named Person who is Duke
Named Person who is Steward
Named Person who is Minister of Interior
Named Person who is Preator
Named Person who is Baron
Named Person who is Count

UnNamed Person who is Steward & Duke
UnNamed Person who is Minister of Interior & Duke
UnNamed Person who is Preator & Duke
UnNamed Person who is Duke
UnNamed Person who is Steward
UnNamed Person who is Minister of Interior
UnNamed Person who is Preator

Why not base it semi on the chain of command put in place under the state of emergency part of the lawbook. Or was that old law I was reading. I get old and new confused.

I am not sure anyone was looking at the difference between old and new for this when the feudalism changes were enacted. We need to find out, from the active citizens we have: 1) is a person qualified to be Kaiser (does zie have only one micronational citizenship, and is zie a full citizen of Shireroth); and 2) is a person willing to be considered to be Kaiser? With the small number of active citizens we have right now, at least 3 will not be under consideration, by their own request: myself, Ari, and Wolvin. All others would seem to be available to place on the list of succession. From this list, also, must come the new Steward.

But Ari said he would be willing to be on the line of succession, if needed. He said so above.

Ari told me online, however, that he didn't want to be Kaiser again. I guess I missed his change of heart. Sorry, Ari. I missed your post above.

Ive been here almost a year now, (i think in sept/oct? check the immigration) And as a loyal citizen I would take the throne if it were so decreed, I do not wish it, but i shall not shun it.

so in short, why not?, mid list please

I would do it if I had to. But only so long as I was needed. Once a more qualified person was found I would likely pass it on. I do no seek power of that level, but if the empire needed me, I am its servant.

Wolvin--

Your offer is much appreciated. However, you did say you did not wish to be considered at this point. We do have enough qualified citizens who can serve on this list so far, but should the need arise for your service, I will be honored to place your name here. For the present, however, you can serve best as Praetor, chairing the sessions of the Landsraad, and shepherding the needed changes and legislation through that body.

I was just clarifying a point.
