Does Anyone Really Care?

To all the people of Shireroth,

Since I became Kaiseress, I have noticed we have had almost no activity. This was also going on during the Bill's reign as Kaiser Meskan II. Do people really want Shireroth to continue, or am I just fooling myself? I don't really want to preside over the death of such a special place, but it really seems as though I'm the last one here and need to turn out the lights when I leave.

Unless people care enough to come into the Shireroth forum and contribute to the life of this country, it cannot continue. If you wish to have a different ruler, let me know and I will give up the throne. I love this nation, but right now it is in a critical state. Even those who have been loyal for years have disappeared.

While I was very ill during the last year and a half, many of you supported and befriended me, and gave me an additional reason to want to get well. I have come to care deeply for the people of Shireroth, many of whom I have come to consider dear friends, and it hurts to think this wonderful creation is dying and we might be left without it. I now understand Bill's depression over the direction in which this country was heading, and sympathise with his wanting to flee the pain.

I need to know if you really care enough for us to continue this forum, or shall we just say, it's over, and shut it down? I really don't want to believe you will just let it die. Sorry for the rant, but I have to get this off my chest and tell you what is in my heart. Thanks for reading this.

With a heavy heart, but hoping for a brighter future,

If the nation is irricoverable, then it should be archived...

At the moment, I think it can recover, but I do not know how.

I don't think a different ruler is needed.

Thanks, David, I really needed that. I need to hear that people do want Shireroth to live as much as I do. And we all need to pull together if it is to survive.

Yes. Pulling together, otherwise known as getting stuff done, is what we should do. For starters, there's a thing or two that I'm going to do to the forum once I'm appointed MiniInt. The forum sends eight kilobytes of fluff (CSS) on each pageload that could just as well be loaded, say, once a week at most. Getting rid of that would improve page loading times slightly...

... so, erm, we'll need to fall back, repair the government (by reshuffling positions so that they're properly filled, and merging those that can't be filled into ones that can), and *then* start looking at how we can move forward. In fact, that's what we've been trying to do all along... yet I don't see an oustfest in progress. How about it?

I'm planning to give the citizens a couple of additional days to post in the census thread, and then the oustfest will begin. At the present I count about 8 or 9 people who are currently somewhat active, about half posting nearly every day. If we all do double duty, we should be able to get things going again.

I'm not really sure what there is to do. Come up with some ideas and I'll help implement them.

Your Highness, I personally am looking at the advent of 2 part time jobs and a school commitment and apologize (to You and, and momentarily Pandora) but my activity has to maintain between 80 posts a day, or 1 in 3 days, but this is why i made the "not dead yet" topic, and you can clearly see in that topic that i am in fact still about, as is Baldwin, even though hes technically not here, as is greg, whose technically not in my barony, and that rarakesh and krasniy are no longer with me. (I leave out knappy cause hes my roomate and im bugging him to at least post once a week)

anyway.... im trying your kaiseressness, i really am.

My dear Baron--

Thank you so much. Actually, Pandora made it for me and put it in the forum. It is good to have you back. I know you are under a great deal of pressure rl, and post as often as you can. However, there were days when there was almost no activity, and I began to lose hope for the continuing of the nation. So many people have posted in a positive way since then, though, that I now realize the citizens of Shireroth want her to regain her strength and vigor, and are working to achieve that goal. My spirits usually are not depressed, and have rebounded, thankfully. I appreciate your imagination and energy, and enjoy having you a part of the country of Shireroth.

Hatter! That is my mannerism!

I am, as always, Your Imperial Majesty's friend. If there is anything I can do (short of returning as a citizen), please tell me.

My friends--

I really appreciate the messages of support. I think the weight of my new office, plus the lack of activity, made me lose hope for awhile. However, with all of Shireroth returning to the forum and pledging their loyalty and commitment to our country, it is obvious to me that my fears were premature and groundless. As long as we continue to contribute and work hard, Shireroth will thrive.

Shireroth cannot die, you have been on every single MCS map since it began, so much history is contained in this nation you'ld kill the entire amozon rainforest writing it down...

if shireroth were to die... Micronational history would never be known...

i mean, shireroth's been around so long it's almost a macronation...

Shireroth, the Macronation of Micronations...

You have no idea how inspiring it is to hear you say that. I agree that Shireroth is an institution that is central to micronations, but I have not seen a lot of interest lately in revitalizing it. Perhaps your new input can spark some additional activity. It is good to have you here.
