Yes. I'll have to find you a vacant county. As you're very new here, I can't make you Minister of anything (sorry!). However, although the Kaiser is still quite powerful, recent reforms (made by me) have limited his/her power.

Absolutely. Though it's easier to do it if you're in Yardistan, but meh to Yardistan.

When you get your own county, yes, you will be a count. You may also be part of a larger political group called a barony, and a still larger one called a duchy. As a count, you can make up your own culture and activities and, if they are sufficiently interesting or you are very active, you will probably attract people to interact with you, either in your county, or between their area and your own.

A good start would be to read all you can find in the website about the country of Shireroth, and read the archives and Shirewiki about the Raynor Isles. If you like what you find, you might wish to continue along the historical paths, but as count, you are free to choose what form your county's civilization will take.

As a count you will not be voting in the Landsraad, but if you become a baron or duke, you will. Remain active, get another count or countess to join with you, and you two can form your own barony, with one of you in charge as baron. If you have four people, you can form a new duchy.

After you have been a citizen of Shireroth and active for a while, you can ask for a ministry or other job. There is no reason you can't aspire to greatness.

I am Countess Carol of the County of New Novi Dalmajcia, also Baroness Carol of the Barony of Lumina's Light, and reside within the Duchy of Kildare. Hypatia Agnesi is Dutchess (an anacronistic spelling) of Kildare, and I am Hypatia's mom (really).

I didn't see anything in the wiki thing about these islands. Just some old Kaisers and history stuff.

I guess I was assuming there was more detail in there than I thought. Sorry. I am sure some of the members who have been here longer than others can help with some of the background, but, as long as you remember you are subject to the Kaiser and any baron or duke you may have over you, you can pretty much make your own land to play in. You're only limited by your imagination.

Yardistan is the anarchy-based Duchy, the only subdivision with the legal right to rebel against the Kaiser.

Yardistan has its own special squad called the Yardistani Annexation Corps. Its motto is: "We've got what it takes to take what you've got!" Watch out--you may have your socks or something more vital annexed.

YAC has been, unfortuanatly, dead for a while, though.

There was a brief flurry of annexations when Hatter and Baldwin joined. Perhaps we can encourage a bit of that again.
