Rebellions, Feudalism, and You

We all know that this nation needs reforms. Here are two of my plans. Mind you, this isn't going to solve our activity problem. All it will do is help fix the system.

The first plan is to go to a system akin to the old feudalism system. THe current system, as much as a novelty as it was, isn't working. People arn't shuffling around due to feudal politics. The entire idea of a county being the staple of isn't as successful as I hoped it would be - with the possible exception of the Lunarians in the past, as well as as Kaikas, the county isn't the staple of the nation. More importantly, the contract isn't fundamental. With the exception of the Duchy of Antica, people did not use the Contract as a form of pseudo-constitition for their subdivisions, and in many cases people found it a nuisance. So we're going back to the old system. Mind you, some things will still exist. The counties that exist will continue to exist. The Minister of Cartography will still have control over the Grand List of Feudalism as well as the subdivisional borders of Duchies and the like. Charters still can be an option if the subdivision wants to have one. As well, I don't have plans to keep the divisions completely rigid. Interdivisional treaties will still be completely allowed. The Duke will be able to be chosen by the subdivision if it wants to, or the Kaiser. As well as something new.

Rebellions and Riots. Currently, they are only meant for play. And in general, not meant to actually do anything. In other words, with the possible exception of scripted rebellions such as Mog, there is no way for a noble to be removed from power. But what if this is different? What I plan to do is to have an actual system for a "rebellion", for a noble to be removed from power by the people inside it, or with the help of other nobles. There are two possible ways for this to happen:

1) All of the servants of the noble wish to remove the noble from power.
2) A supermajority of the servants, plus two nobles of the same level or supermajority of servants and one noble of a higher level, wish to remove the noble from power.

However, for now, it is not going to be allowed for the Kaiser position. It might in the future if people really really want it, but overthrowing a Kaiser will be far more instable than overthrowing a Duke. As well, I highly reccommend that for either of these options, that people would RecWar it or have a similar riot rather than just petition to get a new noble to make it more like if it was a rebellion. This will replace the current system. (People can only rec-rebel if the noble allows it, except Yardistan) Perhaps we could lower the requisites for Yardistan to allow them to rebel with more power.

These are two of my plans. I AM going to do them, so don't other and say that we should go stay with the current system, yadda yadda yadda. However, I am willing to listen to your opinions on these.

I can't wait to see what comes of these changes. They ought to shake things up a bit, and give us more to do here.

Indeed. Decree! Decree! Decree! (We'll riot if you don't make the Decree giving us the right to riot.)

Bah. No controversy?

Two decrees are done. The last decree, changing the feudal system, is going to be a pain in the ass, as it will require a lot of legislature on my part, and I don't even think I can do it all, because it would require changing the Procedures of the Landsraad.

As much in favor as I am of greater equity, do not forget that Landsraad does exist by your will and pleasure. A simple matter of procedure should not be difficult.
