Imperial Proclaimation M1: Reconciliation with Antica

Antica has almost been some sort of sister-nation of Shireroth ever since it was created. The people of Antica and Shireroth had, for a long time, been grateful to be considered allies of each other. In its youth, we had helped Antica rise to greatness. While I was not there for the Dinarchy of Antica's birth and its rise and fall, I know that its people, still here in the Republic, are good people who, if I my own micronational history was only slightly different, I would have joined. The same respect still applies to the Republic of Antica, and I consider the people of Antica my friends.

Even during the schism, I heavily sympathized with both sides. While different in circumstances than Menelmacar, it still reminded me of that horrible schism that tore the nation in two and eventually killed both parts. However, Antica has been blessed by the gods, and as well just damn good luck, to be able to survive that.

But now that is gone. Ever since the schism of Antica, and especially the Treaty of Aquilaria, the people of Antica in the Republic of Antica (okay, enough "Anticas" :p) has, rightfully, had a grudge against us. We had interfered with out previous position of being neutral in the schism. The Republic, previously modest in most issues because they knew that they could not negotiate with Delphi, had a huge backlash on us. I feel that the entire negotiation was a mistake, and quite frankly I would have been just as angry if something like that happened during Menelmacar. It was a stupid move made by us, and I can safely say that the only good thing that came out of us annexing the Dinarchy was bringing Baldwin into our community.

It is the offical position of Shireroth that we are willing to forgive and forget these rocky relations. Moreso, we are willing to give back the territory which is rightfully Antica's - the Dinarchy of Antica territory. While such a reconciliation must go both ways, let it be known that Shireroth is willing to initiate it. I will create a forum for the negotiation of a treaty that will try to put a final nail in the coffin of the grudges on both sides. No more "Antica should be grateful that ____" or, "You can 't trust Shireroth as far as you can throw them..." . This will work out as long as both sides sincerely wish to bury the hatchet, and I will make it my duty to make sure that Shireroth keeps up its half of the bargin.

Let's get the ball rolling.

Meanwhile, after all your hard work, Steven on KZFO called Shireroth "fascist" and "a bunch of terrorists".

I repeat my assertion that trying to appease Antica doesn't work. They will hate us no matter what we do. You can give them the whole Empire and it's not going to make a bit of difference unless we let them dictate the outcomes of our trials and the structure of our government. I want reconciliation as much as you do but there's enough of an cabal of unreasonable people there that nothing's likely to happen.

Maybe so, but Steven is Steven. Steven isn't Antica. I know that there are some people who ARE willing to reconcile, and most of the people who I showed this were willing to do it.

Scott, if you actually listened to the podcast, you'd realize that Steven even admitted that he's a minority.

No matter what you do, some Americans will always hate the French and think they're wierd, but we still carry on relations with them. It's the same situation with Antica. The majority is ready and willing to reconcile our differences.

Luckily right now, said cabal of unreasonable people isn't in power.

I think most of you know that when I set myself to a task, I usually accomplish it. This is the case with the Antican reconciliation.

The reconciliation process has started. Three diplomats from each side. I will notify my choices for the diplomats on Shireroth's side. Baldwin is an observer, as he is part of both nations and is important to the treaty matter of Kaikas.

The treaty shall be named the Treaty of Alcyon, due to the dual role of the city as both Antican and Demesosian, (The former city of Demesos Citry) and thus worthy of a place for a compromise between Antica and the Keepers of the Apollo Legacy.
