Imperial Decree #225: Getting rid of those awful sub-fora.
Posted: Sat Mar 25, 2006 9:44 pm
by Kaiser Alejian II
By order of the Golden Mango throne, I order the moving of threads and the demolition of all sub-fora in the sub-divisions in 7 days. If 4 or more people ask this to be annulled, i'll annull it and we'll move on. Cool? Cool.
Also: The census WILL determine who keeps their positions and nobilty. Beware! Wooooh!

Define "sub-fora".

The county sub-foras.

I'd like it annulled. (1)

I would consider it acceptable to keep baronies as sub-fora, however, I do not like having to go through 3 levels of fora to get to county-specific posts that (say) my subjects post. If, however, we went back to having baronies as separate top-level fora, I would accept county su-fora.
Overall, though, I'm in favor of eliminating 3-levels of fora regardless of which way it is done.

I agree wi th this. Most of the counties don't even have much in it, if at all, and it only detracts activity from the baronies/duchies. Since we're keeping Baronies as subforums, I endorse it.

I want it to be annulled. Straylight's my personal domain in Shireroth, and though it's rare that I have anything to do in there, I really appreciate having a place for it that's separate from anything else.

I, too, ask that it be annulled.

have it that people can petition to get one, but have to jave a numberof posts to put in it to qualify, and activity will be checked every census time

I like THAT idea, actually.

That is a good idea. After all, I have made a significant amount of pots in my forum.

As have I, and Ari, and others. Not everyone, of course.
Also, I know that a lot of the enticement of having a county, at least to new micronationalists, is being able to develop that county. Not everybody has thier own webspace to do so; often, a subforum is the only place to do it.

I will consider these options, then, and get back to you before the expiration date.

This goes into effect on April Fool's Day, but I am still considering my options. Be scared mortals!

I would personally request that subfora be removed altogether, despite hopw ungodly useful they are.
Prime reason for this: As Minister of Trade, in order to set up a functioning Post Based Economy, I need to be able to install the cashmod for the phpBB. However, I cant' do that due to thefact that the CH mod and the cashmod conflict with each other.

I don't have a subforum. I don't even have a forum! So I don't care either way.
Though I'd prefer we had the cash mod to the subforums. It'd be more interesting.

I can work on that on my next vacation (7.4 - 9.4) if you feel it's important...

What I feel is more important, however, is placing a (# of posts done in the last 24 hours / week) mod. It is also currently incompatible with the boards, and I need it for the MCS.

I say keep the sub fora. It is a function i always dreamed of on other boards. I makes excellent sense.
"I want to visit a duchy, there it is, i wonder what the baronies are? oh, there they are... whats the smaller subdivision? oh counties... right there. and it works great for the feudal contracts and the landsdrad AND the kaisers court for storing passed bills, signed contracts and old proclamations...
come on this system is GREAT! counts on up are able to excercise theyre creative ability thanks to the sub fora and frankly, i would keep them for years to come.
now, if they clash with a mod that allows for a economy, then maybe we could find a way to do both, like, perhaps instead of sub fora we could just throw all the forums into one long page, or perhaps several pages so that some semblance of sub division exists. im no board writter, but im sure those who are more adept than i can whip something up.

The problem is that it is incompatible with the Heirarchies mod which we have. In fact, most mods are incompatible with the Heirarchies mod.

Ari has volunteered his services, so let's see what he cooks up before committing to anything.

Allright, i'll revoke this decree. For now.
