A bill to change the Treaty with the Republic of Antica.

This bill will replace the curent treaty; it is the old treaty that previously had failed.
WHEREAS the two countries of the IMPERIAL REPUBLIC OF SHIREROTH and the REPUBLIC OF ANTICA, having come into contact with one another and and finding their interests to be coincident, do desire to formalize and secure their cordial feelings, they do agree:

FIRST, that each recognize the other as a sovereign and independent country, possessed of all the rights entailed thereby

SECOND, that each recognize the other as the sole legitimate owner of all territory, both physical and imaginary, which they claim

THIRD, that both countries commit to resolve all mutual disputes peacefully, using a neutral third partied agreed to by both should this prove impossible by normal channels

FOURTH, that both countries shall remain open and accessible to tourists and other visitors from one another, barring national emergencies or other such security issues

FIFTH, that proper channels of communication shall be opened between them, so as to facilitate dialogue and future cooperation
Explanation: The second clause of this treaty had been removed from the original treaty because we feared that it would violate our treaty with the Dinarchy. However, it turns out that the Dinarchy, while having Proposition 31, did not actually claim Nafticon; thus, there was no need to remove this clause. Finally, this issue is significan to the Republicans, and they feel that they had gotten the shaft, so I feel that this is necessary to improve relations with them.

This worries me. Alot.

What happens if the Dinarchy becomes soveriegn again and goes to war? And we should specift what is their territory as we recognize it.

Treaty of Aquilaria, Article 5, Sub-Article A:
Shireroth will take no side in any questions of what the future Antican government will be if this occurs.

Can we see a copy of the current treaty to know what we are changing?

Simply the current treaty being proposed without Clause 2.

By all means... so long as they haven't claimed any of the Dinarchy's land for themselves, then by all means. Although if they don't trust us now, I find myself despairing that this will help matters...

we as a barony have had no interactions with Antica yet and have decided voting in favor or against would be outside our knowledge and best judgment.

I too have been uninvolved in foreign policy, let alone with the whole two Anticas thing specifically.

Naudia'Diva votes AYE (10), because I want to show that we're not the evildoers some in the Republic prefer to think we are.
