Hey! You People! Wikitize!

I've started the process of making the Imperial Decrees on the Wiki move from one gigantic page to many many pages. One for each Decree, actually.

You can see one here. Imperial Decree 1

It's using three templates: {{Decreebox*-*}}, {{Decree|*|*|*|*}}, and {{movebox|*|*|*|*}}

Let me explain those templates a little.

{{Decreebox*-*}} puts a sidebar on the side. Replace the first star with 1, 11, 21, etc. for whichever part you're in, and the second star with the decree 9 higher. IE: If I'm putting this sidebar onto Imperial Decree #113, I tag the top of the page with {{Decreebox111-120}}.

{{Decree|*|*|*|*}} goes at the very end of the decree, but before {{movebox}}. This tags the decree with an Information box on the left side. The first variable is the Decreeing Kaiser. The second is the date decreed in Gregorian. The third is the date decreed in ASC, and the fourth is the current status of the Decree: Active, Inactive, Revoked, or Fulfilled.

{{movebox|*|*|*|*}} is a modular template made for browsing through series' of pages. With Imperial Decrees, the first variable MUST BE "Imperial Decree". The second variable is the Decree number prior, the third is the current decree number, and the fourth is the next decree number. Remember, numbers only.

Now, I need some help with this, mostly with dating and that sort of thing. If anyone gets an opportunity, can you go through and date all the decrees as per the posting date in the fora? I've also only made it through half of the decrees, so if anyone wants to pick up where I've left off, please feel free.

I really don't know why we don't Wiki the website too. It'd make it so much easier to keep the subdivision, law and other pages up-to-date. Although instead of being intermicronational, it'd relate only to Shireroth.

I've seen it done before with great success.

Gah... I know how much easier it is to have a wiki and easier to maintain, but it lacks something a website just has... It lacks a more unique feel, it lacks full customization in terms of layout (unless you want to fuck with their templates), and it just... it makes a mockery of the people who spend man-hours on websites. So I understand their flaws but really don't like them because they take making something "acceptable" so much easier to create, that it overshadows the more difficult, "better" thing.

Plus, it'd be kind of distasteful to host our website on Microwiki, since it's *supposed* to be for all micronations to put their information on, not a website host for any nation that feels like leeching off our bandwidth - who are we to say that we could put our website on it but others couldn't? It's best to just leave that door closed.

I think he was suggesting we have our own wiki, aside from micro wiki.

Yes, that is what I was suggesting.

I understand the man-hours thing. I've done it myself MANY times. Although rewriting the temples to a universal ShireCode which could be applied to pages specifically for a site Wiki could make it look professional and easily maintainable.

More often than not, the site is heavily outdated and in need of revision. A foreigner coming here has an absolute different perception of what to expect and then dicovers things are not as our site says they are. Not exactly the best picture to put across to potential newbies.

I'm just thinking about efficiency and productivity here. Aesthetics are a minor point which can be factored in slowly. But if information is not up-to-date, then it's a problem.
