Hiya, I'm your new Praetor.

Hiya. Finally got the job, eh? :p

Well, there are going to be some changes around here. First of all, I want to use this forum mostly for the discussion of bills that are not ready to be proposed yet. The Landsraad would be used for actual bills being debated and voted on - what I mean here is that I would seriously prefer if there were no discussions on abstract ideas for bills and the like in the Landsraad, because less people can talk there.

As well, I'm thinking that we should completely switch from our web-based format for the Lawbook, to using MicroWiki full stop. It is much easier to format. We can still lock it for editing, but I don't even think it needs that - we can, after all, simply revert back vandalisms, but I'll keep it locked for a bit. I was made sysop for this purpose of locking/unlocking and editing the Lawbook/Procedures of the Landsraad.

I'm going to be nagging people to vote and discuss in the Landsraad. Nobles, it is your duty to participate in the Landsraad - not only for yourself, but to your vassals. Remember that the representative tradition in modern western society had been invented through feudalism - it is just as much a duty to represent your vassals as it is for a US Representative to represent zir constituents. If you feel like you do not want to participate in the politics, I seriously urge you to appoint a representative to vote for you in the Landsraad.

I also urge the Dukes of the nation to make sure that their votes are being used. If a Baron is being inactive, strip his votes and give them to yourself or other barons. You deserve the votes yo have gotten through the feudal politics of the nation, and I encourage you to use your powers to get all of your vassals a voice.

The Kaiser is encouraging me to make more issues go through the Landsraad instead of using feudal power. That is what we should do - we should look to be more of a political nation and not a clone of Babkha, which has all but disbanded its once prosperous legislature. We do not need to have every single issue decided by the Kaiser - the Landsraad exists for a reason, and I will make sure that we will try to take advantage. No more Mr. Inactive Guy.

By my hand,

Bill Dusch
Prætor of Shireroth

Pondering the idea of a motto

I was poking my nose through various fora today and a particular thread caught my eye: http://p100.ezboard.com/fmicronationaln ... =923.topic

It occurs to me that maybe we ought to consider having an official, or semi-official, Shirerithian motto to impress people with. Thoughts?

Edit: Blech. Meant to hit the "new topic" button. But at any rate, this still stands. To put this post at least marginally on topic, I ought to add that Bill seems to have some good ideas, and I agree that abstract bill ideas should probably be kept out here at the Front Gate... which was what I was attempting to do before picking the wrong button. :fish

Haha, don't worry, Shyriath.

From now on I am going to stop updating the forum-based version of the Procedures of the Landsraad and the Lawbook. The formatting is simply too poor - in particular, the lack of indenting. Instead, I will use MicroWiki. I can simply indent there with a colon, and you all know that the formatting potential in general there is excellent.

I have finished editing the Procedures of the Landsraad, and am now editing the Lawbook. Pray for me please.

Edit: Done.

I think someone should also be responsible for keeping all active laws in .txt files on their HDs. Maybe more than one person. Just in case of disaster.

I have old text files of the lawbook/charter and procedures, but I would be willing to back up the pertinent wiki pages in text file weekly or so, just to safeguard it.

So far, so good. With the recent bills proposed and passed, most nobles have been active. My goal is a 100% vote rate in some way or another, even if it is as feasible as breaking the second law of thermodynamics.
