Are we ever going to pick up our activity? *sigh*

A massive disappearance of board material, combined with a summer slump, does not an easily-remedied situation make.

See Malarbor, wait for me and the other people on vacation to come back, and yes, of course things will get better.

This slump is pretty bad. Reminds me of when I was steward.A rebound is always possible, but the general trend in Micronations, as far as I've noticed anyway, is that they are getting less and less popular. Throw into the mix that Shireroth hasn't really done anything *productive* in the past few months, of course the ezAttacks and the subsequent loss of information, the fact that there have been idiots running around saying that our culture is completed so we have to tear down all of our long-standing government edifices or force feed new culture into Shireroth in order to save ourselves...well, things aren't looking to good.My suggestion is that as the Kaiser you consult with others and try to draw up a plan for the nation to follow. Set a certain number of achievable goals and tell the Landsraad to get working. We have several things that could be done. As far as I know, we never cleared up the GC/Spear fiasco. The MiniInt is a demi-Kaiser against which the Landsraad has no legal recourse--perhaps they should be charged with finding a way to control the ministry without interrupting day to day activities. If we look, we can find things to do.The trick is we need to have a fairly active citizen base to accomplish any goals, and that means we need to have some incentive for citizens to return in the fall. That is hard to do when there is little to no activity. At the moment, there is really no reason for people to come back. We'll have to find some way to pull them back in.I haven't given up hope yet. The time for that isn't come. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

I will not give up on such a place as this. We will endure! What kind of goals should we have though? what are we reaching for?

At this point, I'm not sure.We still need a few more people back. We need to drum up some issues over whcih people can argue. Controversy breeds national activity. But we have to have a direction, too. If we don't have a direction then we are workign towards nothing, and people don't like frivolous work. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Activity (and the lack thereof) is sort of a self-perpetuating process. Activity leads to more activity. Slumps lead to worse slumps. Only really big changes cause the transition from slump to activity, or vice versa. The EzBoard wipe was one such change. Everyone was just waiting for it to be fixed, and lots of people got sick of waiting.People need a reason to return. Otherwise, they hover. Like me, now. I'm hovering. I comment on things that interest me, but I'm not starting anything new. If you want activity to increase, you have to have actions that people just cannot but resist talking about. Hovering people comment than leave, but if they get into the discussions, they hang around, and they get back into the habit of hanging around.Story short, the people that are here need to do something instead of just waiting for others to return. Ok, like what? Laws? Restoration of old literature? Maybe some sort of contest to decide the next kaiser? *shrugs*
