How Do I mount SAMBA so I can access the files.. oh otherwise make it so that this Winampesc program can access my music files on my D:/ drive? I've been playing with the mount -t smbfs ect stuff.. but get funny errors...[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //tonerman// /mnt/smbPassword: (I have tried every possible password that I might have set)4233: tree connect failed: ERRSRV - ERRinvnetname (Invalid network name in tree connect.)SMB connection failedI also get...[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //tonerman/c /usr/sbinPassword: execvp of smbmnt failed. Error was No such file or directory.smbmnt failed: 1[root@Rrakanychan root]# /usr/sbin is where the smbmount file is....This error makes me wonder.. since rrakanychan is my Linux comp...[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //rrakanychan/ /mnt/smbPassword: 4284: tree connect failed: ERRDOS - ERRnosuchshare (You specified an invalid share name)SMB connection failedThe Password is proly my root pw.. but it doesn't seem to matter what I put....These two errors where...interesting.. 192.168.255.1 is tonermans net IP btw..[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //192.168.255.1/ /c4295: session request to 192.168.255.1 failed (Called name not present)4295: session request to 192 failed (Called name not present)4295: session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Called name not present)SMB connection failed[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //192.168.255.1/ /mnt/smb4297: session request to 192.168.255.1 failed (Called name not present)4297: session request to 192 failed (Called name not present)4297: session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Called name not present)SMB connection failed[root@Rrakanychan root]# I sence I'm making progress....ok.. I tried the IP for rrakanychan than for a comp on my network, that isn't turned on right now...[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //192.168.255.3/ /mnt/smbPassword: 4334: tree connect failed: ERRDOS - ERRnosuchshare (You specified an invalid share name)SMB connection failed[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //192.168.255.2/ /mnt/smbError connecting to 192.168.255.2 (No route to host)4337: Connection to 192.168.255.2 failedSMB connection failedso... it doesn't recognize //tonerman/ as anything.... but it see's //rrakanychan/ interesting.... and it recognize //192.168.255.1/ as something.. but.. it says nothing is responding to that name...... .3 gets the same error as rrakanychan (duh, same comp) and .2 gets no responce at all.. says it's got no rout.. let us try.. Durania.. the name of .2[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //durania/ /mnt/smb4339: Connection to durania failedSMB connection failedindeed...so.. hmmm... maybe.. if I tell Linux that 192.168.255.1=tonerman.... though I think I did.. to NETCONF!.. or whatever it is...[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //192.168.255.1/ /mnt/smb4353: session request to 192.168.255.1 failed (Called name not present)4353: session request to 192 failed (Called name not present)4353: session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Called name not present)SMB connection failed[root@Rrakanychan root]# mount -t smbfs //tonerman// /mnt/smbPassword: 4355: tree connect failed: ERRSRV - ERRinvnetname (Invalid network name in tree connect.)SMB connection failedperhaps... I must find somekinda SMBserver.conf file or such... I tried to just type in smbserver but it said no file or command... bah... let the search begin.. Use the proper names of network shares. Try running smbclient -L //tonerman, and get the name of the share from there. Should be something like D$, IIRC. Then run mount -t smbfs "//tonerman/ complete name of the share" dir to mount to. "The Euro symbol is a little box? Makes sense, given the cars you guys drive..." --be-fan (of Slashdot), who had a little compatibility problem
