Offerings for the Path of the Hidden Flame could also include small amounts of oil, pitch, kindling, or alcohol. The Path of the Heated Forge could also include things designed for higher technology. For instance, being able to think directly into a computer and have it perform commands, providing a more efficient (and subtle interface). You also might want to consider a few seperate Paths: one for technology in the form of weapons; one for tech in the form of computational devices; one for interfacing with technology. Or something. Viatax Sitadi Axdivijink Regigoraauk
Magic Paths for the Knights of the Burning Claw

I haven't been able to work on these as much as I'd like. But I do have general outlines for several Paths of magic and how they're going to work.Path of the Hidden Flame (warmth/heat magic): The focus of this Path is heat... not particularly through fire (though it does offer the possibility of igniting flammable objects), but just heat as its own energy. This Path will probably have three basic fields of study; one will be based on generating heat within oneself, for warmth or in defense or what have you. One, which may be partly an outgrowth of the first, will involve projecting heat out from oneself in various forms... this will probably consist most often of attack-oriented spells. The third will involve transfer of heat between two or more objects other than the caster. For materials of sacrifice, I'm thinking either coal or flint... probably coal. Perhaps also blankets.Path of the Rampant Callamen (magic of righteous defense): The callamenni, the giant four-legged chickens of Benacia, are known for being unaggressive toward other herds and species when unthreatened, but furious defenders when their territory and food sources are being taken from them. So too does the Path named for them provide protection from outside threats.I've worked less on the internal structure of this Path than the others, but I AM sure that it will incorporate the defense-shield spell from the War of Vengeance as one of the basic spells. There will probably be a whole field of study relating to physical defense; another may involve defensive coordination, creating a sort of herd-instinct or perhaps even some form of psionic connection between a group of Knights so that they know how best to defend a position. Uppermost spell levels will probably allow a physical transformation into a callamen. Sacrifices will include a claw or (more potently) a beak from a callamen, perhaps carved with Benacian incantations. Most importantly, some of the upper-level spells will probably be unavailable except when the caster is defending their homeland against outside aggression... in other words, there must be an element of proper intent behind their spellcasting.Path of the Heated Forge (technomagic): This unusual form of magic calls upon the spirits that dwell within items of technology (yes, there are such things!) to improve their function. This can be important to the Knights, who like to make use of advanced technology in battle if they can get their hands on it.I'm not entirely certain how to divide this into fields of study. I'm thinking that one group of spells will focus on improving the efficiency of a device, one on improving durability. Maybe put another one in there that extends ammunition or energy supplies. Sacrifices: either some naturally piezoelectric material, like quartz, or a magnetic one, like lodestone.
