Shirlan, Barony Status?

Scott, in reference to your greetings with regards to Shirlan.Well, at this point, especially with the news of the KaiserÂ’s sudden death and the appointment of the new Kaiseress, my input in Shireroth will need to be adjusted according to the changing times. And being, Shirlan, is an ever-changing, ever-morphing community, so thusly, things will adjust, somewhat oddly. Please be patient. As of present, Shirlan is being alienated, partly, yes, and partly, isolated. Some citizens have presented themselves to me, as inquiring to locate a more remote locale. I shall, do the inquiries in honor of them, until I am assured of their proper placement and safety. In the meantime, I would opt, at the very present, to have the Barony of Shirlan be placed under the Duchy of Brookshire, and myself entitled, Baroness of Shirlan, until further name configurations, present themselves. The highly respected appointed appropriate escort from one of the Minitries will need to show me exactly the proper placement of such an erroneous place as Shirlan. IfÂ’n that be off of Shirerothian main territory, then so be it, I will continue to inquire, and receive enlightenment. And ifÂ’n Shirlan may break, into smaller, more distinct layers of communities, yes, maybe no. Time will tell.I shall, present my respects, to the newly appointed and most notably capable, Kaiseress Aure I.A few questions....Does this then, with Baroness status, allow for Landsraad privileges?Doth I seek council with the Dukes of Brookshire? Thusly, Brrapa Lu Eraro and UEC?Seeking your advice for next steps. Much thanks, Scott

Of course, Scott, no doubt, will help you.*waves*However, after being here, for a while now, perhaps, an idea would be, for Shirlan to fall completely under, the Barony of Straylight? Shyriath, might have some notions of this.*shrugs*Otherwise, Ari, I've noticed, being moderator, of Straylight, and thus, might also, have some ideas or at least, offer some spiritual guidance.

Huh. *Thinks over suggestion*Scott, what think you, of Shirlan, whole or part, becomes part of Barony of Straylight?Would this thusly, make Barony of Straylight, Duchy status? Will be seeking Shyriath's input, of course, with this.

There are no provisions for one Barony to be part of another Barony. You could merge with Straylight, but there then could be only one Baron, and assuming that was Shyriath, none of the rest of you could have Landsraad privileges.Making Straylight a Duchy...hmm....a new law says anywhere with over four people can apply for Duchy status, which might or might not be applicable to already existing Baronies. If you were to do that, you could split off Straylight and put a Barony of Shirlan under it. Landsraad privileges would then work the same way other Baronial Landsraad privileges do - it would be up to the Duke to grant Shirlan a certain percentage of the Duchy's six Landsraad votes (if he was nice, two). If you wanted to pull something like that off, though, you would definitely have to get permission from Erik, who is currently Duke of Brookshire and thus indirect ruler of Straylight, and probably from Ari as Baron-Emeritus of Straylight.I suggest reading the Feudal Holdings Act
