The forum would seem to suggest that Hyperborea is now a Duchy, but I can't find any post saying when that happened. Can someone clue me in?

well, erik said that if we brought the matter to him, he would call it passed, and since YEA did have a majority over the other choices, Zirandorthel decided to spare us all the trouble of a second vote and telling the kaiser and stuff... so now Scott is a Duke and Mari is a Baroness... not much else new... but now we need to know how you'll be dividing up your votes... I can't order the Landsraad to Pass certain things... I would have had to decree it.. (which would require fun wording...) I was mostly just saying what WOULD happen if it went to me.. but it is done... So.. no point worrying about it...... Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth

I suppose it is a good thing...but it kinda takes the fun out of us making up our own minds every once in a while...Of course, under the preceding logic, we should presume that anything that the Kaiser votes Nay to in the Landsraad ought to automatically fail, and the opposite should he vote Yea. -Gryphon Avocatio- Lord Governor and Duke of all Yardistan - Minister of Research and Education, Shireroth - Shirerothian Elder - SAVE THE KIWI!! - Lover of Llamas Give me your child, and by the age of five, I can make him a priest or a thief or a scholar. - SCOTT: You know, I always joke about how nothing will ever be able to get me out of micronations...but...I think if my mother got into micronations that would get me out in a hurry. - GUILDENSTERN:We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.

The general consensus was that we would ask the Kaiser's opinion, and he said that if it was his opinion, then it would pass. Sun Bless, Earth KeepZirandorthel I of TreesiaThe Golden DarknessNiirus TinenetuwarLet the fates burn!

But is the Kaiser's opinion law? That would create some interesting issues...

No, in this case, the Landsraad's opinion was law, as is usual. This was the Kaiser's opinion on whether the Landsraad's vote of 16 Aye and 14 Nay could be construed as a victory for Aye. He said something to the order of "If it was up to me, it would pass" so I passed it. I am ever a loyal servant, and had no ulterior motive whatsoever. He said if it were up to him. That suggests he was leaving the decision up to somebody else, presumably you. Thus you decided, believing yourself to be subjected to an order. Generally, Erik allows the Landsraad to do what it wills with little interference. Commanding us how to vote seems illogical as it would defeat the purpose of the Landsraad. Unless we really screw up (which we've done before), i wouldn't expect erik to command us to do anything. It may be his opinion, but it is not law (for he can vote nay, but a bill may still make it to law).

When voting..isnt the Kaiser considered a noble?...when voting in the Landsraad isnt Erik voting as the Duke of Brookshire...not as the Kaiser? And if so, doesnt that mean his opinion is just that, an opinion, just like all other nobles who vote? Okay, so is there any problem? Am I allowed, as Prætor, to seek advice from the Kaiser, whom I after all represent in the Landsraad, as he is only allowed to participate in his role as Duke of Brookshire? I can use my Kaiserly Veto power when I feel a bill threatens the supremecy of the throne, the ideals of the nation.. or is just REALLLLY bad.. Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth
