But Bill, you're count of New Jasonia. Surely there are stuff you can do with that. Go to the university and hold lectures about the beginning and fall of the Apollonian era. Do some cultural stuff on New Jasonia, or soloralism. And people are interests. You have an intense knowledge about all the things that have happened during the Apollo times. Share it with us

What an incredily selfish and predictable reply. The last thing I would do is join Elwynn - the only reason why I am here in Shireroth is to have a part of the nation to consider my own, not join other people's hobbies. I know even that is selfish, but I would rather enjoy my stay here in Shireroth, which I really havn't had yet. Why should I take it easy? I'm frustrated. There is nothing to do here. No niche for me to fill that I actually want. Heck, the only thing I do online anyways is talk to Harvey - none of you actually talk to me about things I am interested in. And no, the War of Vengeance doesn't count.By "boredom", I don't mean "silly boredom", but "There is really nothing to do here in Shireroth. It's pointless in me even staying here unless things change."I don't even have all of my titles here. Cross-posted from Bill's LJ because I want other people to see this:Quote:I have a couple of things that prevent me from feeling your boredom with Shireroth is as bad as you think:1) Whether or not you can do interesting things really doesn't have much to do with what position you're in. A person who's bored as count will probably be bored as Kaiser. Either you have a good idea that people support, in which case you can convince people to implement it no matter what position you have, or you don't have any ideas or you have ideas other people don't like, in which case you can't (or shouldn't) implement them whatever position you've got.2) Shireroth isn't so much just a micronation as a community of people, something I've stressed a thousand times and will stress again. I haven't, you notice, been doing anything micronational there since I left the Kaisership, but I still consider myself completely part of the community and a Shirerithian. That's why it confuses me so much when someone like David will say "I'm going to resign my citizenship!" because he has to stop doing micronational stuff for a while, when we all KNOW he's a Shirerithian. So instead of it being this bivalent decision of "Leave" or "Don't leave", I suggest you understand that you're a Shirerithian and always will be and decide to what level you want to participate in political life. This advice would go for Harvey too if I expected him to listen.

And I'm going to reply with Harvey's reply, because it's precisely what I was going to say, anyway.Quote:There's truth there Scott, but not answers. Your first comment seems irrelivent. I don't think Bill's upset with Shireroth because of job. He could be a baron of a barony under Kildare if he wanted to. As for the second, that is EXACTLY the problem: it's all so personal now. There aren't any micronational things left to do so people get talky and chatty. But Bill doesn't feel like he's a part of that community. The thing is that he DOESN'T feel like a Shorerithonian now. He has no nitch. Bill Dusch - Archon of SoloralismCitizen of ShirerothProud to be Apollonianvar txtList = new Array()txtList[txtList.length]="'Whoa! You're in...college now? You got...older! *Pulls an Osmose*Once upon a time, Fax was an inactive citizen. I liked Fax a lot, and missed him for the same reasons why anyone would miss a micronational friend. I talked to him in an attempt to bring him back to Shireroth.Fax said that the main reason he was inactive was because he felt that no one cared about Hjornism. He had a legitimate complaint: Few people replied to his stories in Naudia'Diva, with at most, the comment being "Oooh, nice!". I tried to pursuade him using the same tactics people would pursuade me regarding Soloralism (e.g. just because people arn't working on it doesn't mean they don't care about it." He tried to give it a second chance, and came back to Shireroth. When Fax came back, almost immediately after reviving the Barony of Nauda'Diva and working on his stories, people took interest and directly interacted with his culture he was creating. They were willing to intergrate it within the culture already existing, as well as roleplay in various parts of the culture.Ironically, the person who convinced him to come back in the first place, Bill, was stuck on square one with his own culture - him working on his own culture, yet no one else participating in it, thus feeling unwelcome. And Bill lived a life in which he did not have a niche in Shireroth because no one was interested in what he was interested in, the end.Moral of the story: Irony is cool. Harvey and Bill,I'm using this thread to answer your comments in the SNARL OOC thread, which were pointed out to me today (honestly, if you've got some complaints, do it somewhere I'm likely to look for complaints, that way they might get addressed). To answer your first question, Harvey, no, Scott did not appoint me to insult people. Unless that was what you meant. Man, you guys are sharp.Anyway, as insulting as the comment may have been, it was in fact a joke. And by "annoying kind of malcontents" I meant the kind of unfocused complaining-about-absolutely-everything that was going on with regards to the War of Vengeance. Which, as Bill would say, is ironic. People were complaining about the War, and I took it personally because I hoped that for once something Bill was interested was in would go right and there would be happiness and peace in the land. How wrong I was, oh how very wrong. Especially ironic it was as well that as soon as Harvey calls me up, Bill calls me up, and it was Bill I was defending in a sideways kinda way...As for the pizzantes comment, and the assertion of my Kaiserly authority, I was annoyed that people were opposing a Decree I'd made. This was something I'd only ever seen a few times before, and certainly not over anything so trivial as what the Decree was about. And for gods' sake, am I not allowed exercise some ridiculous authority once in a while??That's all. Like I say, if you have complaints, make em. I can't guarantee I'll do anything about them, seeing as together you represent one whole citizen, but at least I'll address them.Is mise,Yarad

As much as I loathe to say it, Bill is feeling exactly what I was feeling when I tried to be a citizen here. There just isn't the niches we all had back in the old days. Of course, I'm not as upset about it as Bill is. Such is life, IMO, and there's little I can do about it.I can't pinpoint it, or define it, but there is an element of this hobby that is missing and hasn't been found since the birth (yes, I said birth) of Tymaria.Perhaps it's because back then we were the rebels, whereas now we are the standard. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.

I appreciate the response. I'm sort of confused on how saying "Harvey is useless" translates to "there's too much bickering in this war" but I'll let it slide.Maybe WarVoid hit it right on. For years our corner of micronationalism (I want to use Apollo here) had to try real hard to prove itself to everyone else. Now we have. Most of our people run the modern intermicronational institutes. Some of the thrill is gone from it really.
