They say they're "the smallest country in the world", but obviously they're still bigger than Shireroth. They're 60 km^2 in the middle of Italy, with 23000 people. They're way up on the top of a mountain and all of them are armed to the teeth, so no one conquered them for a millennium or so and then it just became a tradition to not conquer them, and so they remain independent today.They also have nifty products like Fuhrerwein (which as far as I can tell is just a bottle of wine with a picture of Hitler on it instead of a label) and a poorly translated Pope commemoration card that reads "In memory of loving our Big Dead Pope". I almost bought it, but it was 10 euro, so forget about it. I did buy some San Marino coins and stamps. They have coins with Kant and Hegel on them! Nah, that was just a popular myth.
