Shame on you...From the Archetype apology threadQuote: You forgot Ethiopian Orthodox/Abysinnian. They were the first nation to convert :-p.Armenia was the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion in AD 301 and the Armenian Apostolic Church continues to be distinct (having separated from Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox when they were still united in the very early 6th century.) Ethiopia took a few more decades. The Armenian Apostolic Church, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, and the Coptic Church (maybe a few others I forgot) form the Oriental Orthodox Churches, which are all in full communion with each other. It's important to note though that despite the confusion stemming from the name "Oriental Orthodox", these churches are actually completely distinct from the various Byzantine Eastern Orthodox autocephalous churches.Further note, discussion on whether religious or secular causes were responsible for more deaths is pretty useless, in my opinion as without taking into account different population sizes and technology over time there is no consistent way of calculating a figure without it being completely biased and subjective. Furthermore, I also doubt the usefulness of comparing bodycounts period. There are more consistent ways of attacking religion.Additional notes, I am not religious even though I just returned from church...I attend when I am staying with my parents to make my mother happy. (I am highly critical of religion, and several religions in particular, although I believe it is a purely personal matter and usually opt to keep my opinions to myself unless there is a disspassionate academic discussion going on)---This does not violate the Kaiser's decree as it makes no arguments regarding religion, but only discusses an argument used in religious arguments. And now for something completely different...I wrote a completely phonetic English alphabet over the course of two days! 35 letters, 3 diphthongs, 1 digraph. It succeeds in producing an accurate way of spelling English without choking it with a thousand diacritics per word due to the English language's large number of vowels. I eliminated some letters which were extraneous, added several new letters, most from Icelandic, German, and Old English, a few others from Czech, and one which is original. My intention was to try to bring modern English closer into touch with its old Germanic roots and I think I have somewhat succeeded in that purpose.I have posted a copy of what I had written on another forum at the Polabia forum---the thread is located here.http://www.cdlinux.netfirms.com/...?p=325#325edit: for some reason, part of the link was cut off. It's all up now though..I think. Edited by: Stjepan Veliki at: 6/11/05 16:56
