I believe that banner is hosted on Nick's personal site, is it not? I would reccommend checking with him...It may also be possible that your browsers cannot view the file extension format... right click where it should be to check the properties... some earlier browsers can't view .png's (which is the format in which most of the main page's flags are now) Phoenix the Risen - Dutchess of Kildare - Political Nuisance but at least She gets the job done. - Official Genkher of Gryphon Avocatio's Cool Short Sig and Gryphon the Pure's Awesome Tables! - COME BACK, STEVE!!! -"To quote a former Kaiser.... Unfortunately, the banner would seem to be on the Shireroth site and to be normal jpeg. Perplexing indeed.

It could be that your browser is truncating the maximum length of the picture's url. That is, instead of it reading something like "
www.shireroth.org/pics/bam-flag.jpg", it's reading "
www.shireroth.org/pics/bam-f" , which would obviously lead to a broken image.Another possibility is that the .jpeg tag is messing with your system. Check to see if .jpegs bother your system, while .jpg does not. If so, you'll need to identify what exactly a .jpeg is to your system...and I forget how to do that at the moment. Remember, my child, without innocence, the cross is only iron, hope is only an illusion, and you're nothing but a name.

It's most perplexing not because they don't work, but because they don't even show as a broken link with the red X in the middle; they just don't show up at all.

Get a real browser.....I suggest Mozilla Firebird... though I think they renamed it for legal reasons... I don't know what it's called now. Erik Mortis BrookshireCommoner of Alexandretta

I'm still on Firebird.. Mostly due to being to lazy to switch my mouse gesturs extention settings over. oh.. and if any.. mouse gestures make the switch COMPLETLY worth it. I just right click and move my mouuse left to go back.. or right to go forward.. or down to stop the page loading.. or up to refresh... I can close the window by going left right left. and go to Shireroth with Up Right Left (URL! hehehe) Erik Mortis BrookshireCommoner of Alexandretta

First it was called Phoenix, so the folks at
http://www.phoenix.com bothered them since, IIRC, they've got something that looks remotely like a web browser in a BIOS. Or then not. All I can really tell for sure is that they called themselves Phoenix first. Then, when it was called Firebird, the folks who make an open-source database called Firebird (it's just poetic justice that the company is called IBPhoenix) bothered them, and they decided to call the browser Firefox instead. Note that the first renaming was for legal reasons, the second one simply because the folks at the Mozilla project are good open-source citizens and don't want name collisions... I spend my days enjoying the minty taste that surrounds Erik.

That gesture system sounds pretty shakin', I might look into acquiring Firefox, or whatever it's called by the time that hallowed day arrives, when I get my own computer. Sun Bless, Earth KeepZirandorthel I of TreesiaThe Golden DarknessNiirus Tinenetuwar, Tivitha e'TarasGrand Duke of Lac Glacei

Quote:Stop plugging your favorite computer program and try and help me.What we're trying to do is actually not unreasonable. You see, web browsers are complex, operating systems are complex, and more importantly, Windows and IE tend to be rather opaque (i.e. they don't give you a chance to see what's going on behind the scenes - therefore, it's often hard to figure out what's wrong with them). However, since it's more trouble than it's worth to convert people to a different OS for such a small problem... let's try to narrow down the problem a bit.I'll put the BAM banner in three different contexts here. The first one's a plain-text link, the second a clickable link, and the third an inline image. Let's see which of them work for you...1.
http://images.shireroth.org/forum/banne ... amity.jpg2. images.shireroth.org/forum/banners/title-amity.jpg3. If none of them work, we can be fairly sure that the image itself is not viewable on your box for some reason (that will have to be investigated). If all of them work, it's likely that the problem is on the main forum page. In other cases, we're going to need some dead chickens... Do you really believe Project Bluebook revealed EVERYTHING the Army Air Corps knew? Do you know what REALLY happened at Roswell, New Mexico in the late 1940s? Have you even heard about the Men in Black? Do you have any friends who have `missing days'? Do you sleep with your window unlocked?Be seeing you...

The first one works... but not the last 2... weird eh?
