Attention: Dukes and Barons

Eventually, the website is hopefully going to include a section for each fiefdom. I don't think that it's necessary to have any sort of consistent style, but if you don't already have a website, consider making one, and if you do already have a website, consider updating it. I'll probably be wanting to transfer everyone who's ready to the main site in a few weeks. If any of you don't know how to make HTML...well...good thing we have an economy starting up soon, eh?

I believe a certain Duke still has an Elwynn site, shall I pass him the material for an update?

I'm not sure that could be called a site, but yeah...email it to scott@shireroth.org, if you would.

For clarification, are the duchies to get an entire site or just a page? Wylþeow du GrifosThe Kaiser of ShirerothThe gods blessed you with power and a visionThe gods gave you life to accomplish a mission...

Although Erik I believe has it set up for each to get only a page, I hope to eventually (as in, once my computer stops being dead) to get each Duchy a Subdomain (aka site). Phoenix the Risen - Dutchess of Kildare - Political Nuisance but at least She gets the job done. - Official Genkher of Gryphon Avocatio's Cool Short Sig and Gryphon the Pure's Awesome Tables! - COME BACK, STEVE!!! -"To quote a former Kaiser.... Well, if by site you mean a whole http://www.kildare.org thing, no. But if you mean a series of interconnected pages, sure. For example, you could have subdivisions.shireroth.org/kildare/culture.html, subdivisions.shireroth.org/kildare/history.html, subdivisions.shireroth.org/kildare/citizens.html, et cetera with all of them linking to one another. See http://www.geocities.com/apollos...Hyperborea for an example, although you don't have to do something that complicated. Edited by: Scott Siskind  at: 2/19/04 8:56 pm

These sites... how are they to be made? With angelfire or geocities and then linked to and through shireroth.org or should we just start using base HTML (make sense?) and when our page is made you transfer it?Where's Nick at 7:29AM EST when you need 'em...

You make the site and then I'll transfer it (proly need some help) to shireroth.org. You can use whatever programs and stuff you want to make it - it still transfers okay.

Now that I think about it...Erik might have subdivision FTP accounts for you. Why don't you ask him?

@4:29 PST, i am usually asleep...Um....as far as I know, baronies do not get their own ftp space...they are the charge of their duchies. Wylþeow du GrifosThe Kaiser of ShirerothThe gods blessed you with power and a visionThe gods gave you life to accomplish a mission...

We could then have http://www.shireroth.org/hyperborea/elwynn/index.html Perhaps if we make a system whereby a Barony only gets, say, three webpages under such and such a size (kilobytes) on their Duchies subdomain, and Duchies get only such and such a size, etc. Then there's another reward attached to recruitment, more webspace. I don't think that'd make sense...it's not like people are desperate to have huge pages...I suspect it's going to be trouble getting people to do the work as it is.And I believe the URLs will look something like subdivisions.shireroth.org/hyperborea, though I'm not sure.

surley better to be, for example...goldshire.shireroth.com/lunaris.html "Disclaimer: Whatever is in the above post is probably a result of my blind following of Kieran Bennett, because I have even less of a brain than Kieran. Don't even get me started on my lack of independent thought."

Maybe, but I don't think we're allowed to have that many things in front of the name.

Subdomains, you mean.I believe that is the reason Erik only separated the site into the current ?five subdomains, rather than setting them for each ministry and each subdivision. That and also this way its easier to reorganize when random things like Kitanus switching to Goldshire and such happen.
