Fides, welcome back. I go away for four days and return to the sound of crickets. (Granted, I am not a Shirerithian.) You go away for four days and return to people using the "worship" and "yay" emoticons. Obviously there is quite a story behind you, and your Wiki page is not just the half of it. An important part of this story might be why you left Antica. Care to explain why in a few short, snappy sentences?

You're welcome, nonetheless. You helped developing Illumination! :yay:

Easy enough to fix.

I left Antica because I wasn't having fun. That's about it really...

I'm actually only here to secretly use my Lansraad votes to annex Shieroth into Nelaga, just like Harvey, Andreas and Greg.

...

Did I say that out loud?

You will fail, I tell you! FAIL! :evil

Not that I'm against a huge, pointless merger to have some fun. :D

If Fides: note, the IC/OOC thing doesn't really happen here, hence ignoring the Al Magroth indecent

I am going to come up with a medal of honor in Nelaga specifically so I can give you one. :love

Oh, really? Didn't know you felt like that. You will be contacted in the next month or so.

As I've said before, pointless mergers are fun, but I don't really know if Shireroth could be part of such an event. Same way Antica proly couldn't be. To stubborn and prideful.

If we an escape clause... :document
I'm not to proud and stubborn, under certain conditions. But for that I should need to see the proposal, of course (I don't want to start a discussion right now, but I find it important that we hold all doors open). :angel

The New University of Irrel (located in Batavia) did an investigation to a (con)federation between the Dutch micronations. While it was meant for the Dutch sector, it can easily be used by Anglophones. I have to admit that it was quite some interesting research, in which was investigated how the voting system in the parliament should work if you want a fair system, which government departments should be (con)federal, etc.
Perhaps I should ask Mateo, the teacher of that subject, to bring the lessons to our university. :)

Well, that's the thing. A merger should be all or nothing. You either do it right with the hope to succeed, or otherwise, why bother?

Or you do it right with the hope to succeed but hold an escape clause with you to avoid violent secessions, etc.
Look to it as a marriage, with the possibility of a divorce. :document

Yeah.. that's just kinda my point. If you hold the possibility of divorce, then you shouldn't be getting married.

Change my opinion to: we just don't mention that nations can't succeed. :document ;)

See, Jonas gets it!

I agree with the ideology of the "all or nothing" concept, but realistically, especially these days, I fear that everyone would just choose the nothing. It's an uphill climb just convincing people to consider the idea.

As for divorces, prenupts are really common. It's not the most romantic thing in the world to decide who gets what if you go splitsville, but it's a lot better of an experience for everyone involved if you recogonize the possibility when you're still in love rather than if you hate eachother's guts. In best, you never need the prenupt and live happily ever after. At worst, it saves you fighting it out in court.

I guess. I'm just myself in a place where a thing like that is technically an option, since I'm getting married in a year. I'm scared enough without thought like that...
