UPDATING THE CLAIMSMAP

Okay, we've had this up for discussion several times, so let's do something about it finally.
This is the update thread to our claim on the Micras
Claimsmap.
Please post any and all changes you know of that are not shown on the claimsmap.
- Border north of the City of Nee removed
- Thanatos renamed "Nation of Lakhesis"
- City founded on the western tip of the island just below the second "e" in Nee named Thanatos
- City in Caverden named Citadel
- North and South Lunaris merged, border removed
- Demesos, New Jasonia and Audentior merged into Sermolot
- County of Alexandretta renamed County of Kralizec
- County of Florencia renamed County of Florin Sara
- Island in Nova Dalmacija where Aracigrad is located is named "Carol Island"
- City founded near Smotretka named Mejor
- Echo, east of Eliria, in Wintergleam, by the river
- City of Aeolus, eastern Lywind
Please add to the list. I also want new cities founded, first of all in counties without cities, but also in counties that have cities already. I want all counties to have at least one city, preferably at least two.
Furthermore, I propose that we found a new city in Nova Dalmacija named "Lady Carol City" and make it the county capital.

I still prefer the idea of the Carol Islands to Lady Carol City. City names like "Lady X City" sound messy to me.

The island where Aracigrad is located could be named "Carol Island". Sounds okay? Or perhaps "Karolya Zemlya" would fit in more with the naming scheme in ND?

Yeah, that would work. That or the Cape Carol idea (if you're still keen to split the county).

We can keep ND together. I'm gonna put in "Carol Island" as a change now.

Looks like Lywind and... Araxion? ...are the big offenders as far as lack of cities goes, not counting Caverden which will soon have Citadel... Do either of those counties belong to anyone at this point?
Also, I keep seeing references to a county called Smjorkyr, or something, and I don't see it in the claims map.

Lywind and Araxion are imperial lands at the moment. I think Smjörkýr is Frieden on the claims map. I'm not aware of much development using the name Smjörkýr, but perhaps Daniel or someone can fill me in on that.

I was working on situating some bases for MoMA when I saw this thread. I think I've managed to include most of the changes listed.

Well aside from putting Thantos in the wrong place.

And misspelling it.
Thanks.

Just a bit of moving and rearranging needed.

Hopefully corrected now.

Thanks. I notice a lack of MoMA installations in Appolonia? Any reason?

Kildare has always invested attention in its military system (think about the defence wall we were planning in case of an attack from the east found place, the ocean palace, etc.), greatly thanks to its military traditions and habits. Perhaps that's why.

Partially, just partially. There is also Fort Carolina (another typo, FFS) which will enable MoMA to coordinate the defences of the natives.

Echo should be immediately east of Eliria, in Wintergleam, by the river.

The city of Mejor is still labeled Smotretka. That should be changed.

You're not a citizen.

If we need a city in Lywind, and if we wanted to extrapolate a windy sort of theme for that land, maybe one called Aeolus? In the eastern part of Lywind, say?

I know I'm not but the named changed and you confirmed that. I'm just pointing out an error in the map. You're welcome.

Wait a moment... if I loke to that map... the place were fort Carolina is... that was a part of Greater Audentior (the Atrechtian colonies, a plan to colonise the isolated parts of the Dutchy). I don't remember that the borders were changed back.

Why is Automatica shown as being a part of the County of Sermolot? I never approved that merger and the County of Automatica is a part of the Imperial Lands, at least according to the forum.

Looked over that, but yes: I don't remember it. But if we have that instead of the Atrechtian colonies (which aren't mentioned on your map either), I will not complain.

I have no idea what the Atrechtian colonies are.

Yes, some more details about the Atrechtian thingies, please?
Other than that, realizing that since I am now DirCart I should be taking a more active role in this, I took the liberty of fidding with Ardy's map to include the remaining changes:
-Demesos, New Jasonia and Audentior merged into Sermolot,
without Automatica
-City of Aeolus added to eastern Lywind
-City of Smotretka renamed Mejor
I actually did that last one before checking it against the most recent version of the list at the beginning of this thread. In the process of checking the list, I noticed that it instead said "City founded
near Smotretka named Mejor". Nonetheless, in light of
previously formulated policy statements, I am choosing to leave the change I already made as it stands, until the matter is clarified.
(edit: slight change of wording)

Insert some mumbling about three counties being based on three different actual micronations being merged into some oddly name county at total disregard for history here. Keepers of the Apollo legacy indeed, Kildare...

Had it been me to choose, I think I would've picked Apollonia. Bonus points: We have land on the continent of Benacia, and a county of Benacia. We have land on the continent of Apollonia, and we could have a county of Apollonia...

Not only pleasing symmetry, but could also carry the undertone of "if we weren't so (nice/busy/whatever), we'd just claim
all of both continents".

On the topic of Araxion having a city: from
other material we know it at least has a tower/castle, itself called Araxion, at the source of the Elwynn. It would be reasonable to assume that some kind of town would build up around it. When I have a chance I'll stick that in too.

Why not merge Sermolot the way it was done in the Kildare map earlier; keeping the original county names and adding (Sermolot) in brackets underneath. Yeah, on the Kildare map it was (G.A) (Greater Audentior); but either way, it's a merger of Imperial Convenience and considering that they remain three easily separated chunks of land, keeping the proper names on should be fine.

I wish there was a clearer way of indicating that a county is composed of multiple parts... but using the conventions of the MCS map, probably not. This is definitely something else to implement on the vector map; but in the meantime, I will confirm with the Kaiser that a policy of representing sub-county entities the way you describe, especially ones of such historic importance, is acceptable.
