House confederation.

So, Tosha-Straylight and Mortis have been talking.

If all Minor Houses merge to create a single Major house, we'd have roughly 9 people, one more then Kalir, and thus we would get the throne when the Kaiser abdicates/Dies.

We'd need all houses to achieve this.
Mortis = 3.
Tosha = 2.
Annexis = 1.
Kildare = 3?.

Kalir has 8 homies.

Would the other houses, be interested in such a joining? Each house would remain a House Minor under the Major House, which would simply act as a holding unit. We'd need to devise a system to determine who the Duke was.

I realize there would be many political differences in this Allied House, but with each current house remaining separate within it, I feel it could work out.

House Tosha-Straylight is interested.

The House of Everyone Else? :p

House Autonomous.. or.. HOUSE AUTOBOT!

Corey, join us. It could mean power and glory.

but yeah. A name would be important, as would a means to pick our leader. House Tosha-Straylight would need to pass up the title of Duke for the new patron, whomever that was. House Kildare would also be coming in with a Baron's title. So... that gives them a bargaining chip.

I know this is heretical... but I kinda like the idea of electing a Patron...

House Mergistan?

House Benacia?

House of the Rising Sun? Wait... that makes no sense...

House Lumina?

Why not letting the Patron and Duke title rotate between the heads of the constituent houses?

That could work. We'll start with you cause you have the title at the moment. How long should it be held? Then in what order would it go? With the houses as they sign on?

Perhaps in alphabetical order (the name when the house signs up)? We could either have a rather long period, like a month, or a short, like a week. I think I would be more in favor of a short period.

I'm in. I like the rotational idea too.

Maybe call it House Darklight

House Malarbor? hehe

So we just need to get Kildare on board. Then we'll have the Kaisership.

Nope. Do we have you, thus having the whole of House Annexis?

I still haven't heard from my House Members. But it's one thing to have the leaders on board enough to start talks. Another to get all the people to agree.

I'll give it a try, sure.

Excellent. Now we just need to hear from House Kildare and the rest of my house.

Our leader is a Dutch and will always be the Dutch, not a simple Baron.

Now you totally lost me.
Excellent. Now we just need to hear from House Kildare and the rest of my house.
If it's up to me, I can only say the following: I'm not very eager to join a Major House with Minor Houses that in no way have the same political ideas. And there above a Minor House with a Kaiser who changes the rules, so the largest house gets the Kaisership. But thereafter quickly wants to create a new House to take away the Kaisership of the House of Kalir (a house that, if I read your intentions, should deserve it). :no

Nope, I will talk with the Kildari and ask them to join Kalir. If we have to merge our House to get the (feeling that we have the) Kaisership, then I prefer to merge with the House Kalir. Besides, we have a cultural bound with the old Elwynn.

The rules were already there for nearly a month. No one noticed them till I tweaked them to help keep the power from pooling with no alternative.

Nonetheless, I disagree with these rules but am happy that you brought it to my attention. :)

But Kildare shall not join this House confederation. The reason for it is bad, and I personally would prefer Kalir above it. :no

The reason behind it is very good in my opinion, and if you do oppose the house system, I think joining the house confederation would be better than joining Kalir. If you do join us, the head of House Kildare will be a Dutch perhaps one week every month. If you join Kalir, you will never have a Dutch.

Also, I was not aware that you were the autocrat of House Kildare, but I might have missed something? :p

The rules are relatively sensible, they just perhaps need tweaking to reflect the house that is mightiest rather than merely the house with the most citizens. And people need to actually use the house system (something which is obviously not your fault).

This is glorified parties and is very close to democracy, at least closer than for a very long time in Shireroth.

Only if you choose to treat it as such. My view on the house system is that it's meant to be a place where people in a contiguous land area combine together and develop that and grow in prestige, gaining more land etc - ie building Duchies up from scratch. If people choose to treat it as a popularity contest and jump houses at the slightest provocation, well, of course it's going to devolve into party politics.

But people do treat it like that. And who said anything about contiguous land? There is no such provision in the laws.

There's nothing in the law which requires contiguous land - but if, like me, you think of houses as successors to the Duchies, Duchies have land in the same area. It would be a bit silly if you had 20 counties all split up (and yes, I know we have this chunk of land in Absentia, but we'll deal with that eventually).

The only successors are Kalir and Kildare, and only partly. You don't exactly have all your former land. It is a real possibility to have 20 counties all split up, but then you would have to have 20 people in your house, which is unlikely.

Yes. I suggest the name "House Yardistan".

I concur that we move forward with making this happen, regardless of Jonas' apprehension.

Also, while I am favorable (and honored) in choosing a name such as Yardistan, I feel it is a place-name and inappropriate for a House. The names of Houses are typically taken from surnames, so I would suggest transposing the name Yardistan from a place-name to a surname; e.g. Yardistan to Yardus.

Actually, I like House Yardus.

I would probably like House Yardi better, since that's what I call Yardistanis anyway. Yardus sounds like a big Russian guy.
