DB: II. B. 2. a. i & ii. shall be removed.
i. The house that the Kaiser most recently came from.
ii. The house that the Steward most recently came from.
The following shall be added to DB: II. B. 2. a.
iv. The house with the most inheritable titles held by its members.
By my tinkering hand,
Kaiser Mors VI.

No! I protest, this is just stupid. Back to the old methods of chosing a heir!
Away with these political parties, disguised as Houses!

Etc. :smashy

EDIT: Just saying that making the houses more important will bring frustration with it.

This actually does resemble parliamentarism, as I pointed out to Erik on #micronations.

I took our the Steward and Kaiser's houses get the throne offered first to help fix the loop that would create of 1 house having all the power.

Further to the discussion between Elwynn and Kildare re merging or alliances, I draw the Kaisers attention to this comment.
To that end, I would advise the Kaiser to change his heir to not be awarded to the largest house; but to be decided by the largest alliance of houses. Since in a feudal system, especially a non-hereditary* one like Shireroth, the monarch's power only lasts while he retains the support of his nobles, it makes perfect sense to me that the new Kaiser should be determined by the most powerful alliance of nobles - this allows houses to stay separate, but to throw their combined authority and prestige behind the Kaiser.

*You have to be descended from Raynor, but not from the previous Kaiser.

I don't agree with that change, for what my opinion is worth.

I don't agree either. Go through the effort to fully merge, or don't bother.

You mean like House Yardis went through the effort to "fully merge" it's three founding members?

There is a difference. House Yardis was a Major House with Annexis, Mortis and Tosha-Straylight as Minor Houses. What you seem to be talking about is a loose alliance.

As I've said before, we clearly have very different presuppositions about this; but for the last time, I would say that in practical terms, House Yardis was nothing more than an alliance. You formed it out of no love for one another, but merely to fit the terms of the decree. When better ways to organise became apparent, you ditched House Yardis and took back the Major House status you had given it. It is clear House Yardis was never a proper or permanent house. The merger between Mortis and Tosha-Straylight, that was a proper merger.

But the matter is probably moot, considering that everyone except Erik and I seemed unhappy with the idea of granting the succession based on house merit (whether it was measured accurately or not) and wanted to return to the option of picking individuals as heirs.

How is it a fuck up? You're Kaiser. Everyone is recognizing you. Everyone knew you would be the Kaiser next. Any weirdness is not unusual for reign changes.

I'm not... but Audentior is far, far away from the capital of course... :p

I think I know why. You know the best way to protest? Do some work, show that your House deserves more counties. As it is now, most I see from the other side of the sea is mostly nothing. Oh, and complaints.

Weird, I see the same on the other side of the sea... it's not like any of the houses should really deserve something for cultural developments. I have explained it to Andreas in the past: I can't work properly when they are forcing me to make developments, while I know that they will ignore it (I'm referring to the things Kildare has achieved, but doesn't count under these new 'regime'). I have developed Kildare in the past (rather then Audentior), this system blew it. I think that any sane man will understand that when something like that happens, you don't have much interest to start anything new.

Nothing of the development has been deleted. It's just that a lot of counties were just lying around in the duchies without anything happening. I know you did some really amazing things, and I am more than willing to discuss how to protect that stuff for you. Perhaps bring it all into House Kildare? Or give you Sermolot back or something. I don't know. I do, however, guarantee you that no amount of nagging will bring back the old system.

Jonas, I hear you more than you know. The idea of a protracted Civil War did not seem to be a good idea, considering the fragile current nature of our institutions.

I've found that an upheaval of the nature that the Nation has been through cannot be undone in an afternoon without a crippling effects.
Remember, friend, Shireroth sumus. Tempus in parte nostrum est. We must look to posterity rather than immediate gratification.

That's something I would support, Not-Yet-By-Me-Recognised-Niftiness. :evil

(And actually one of the major points I'm fighting for... :p )

I think you misunderstand. I don't mean moving all the counties into House Kildare, I mean moving your work into House Kildare somehow. I'm not really inclined to do so at the moment though since Kildare doesn't do much except complain, with the exception of Andreas. ;)

I have worked in the past, I'm not going to do anything until a decent agreement is reached and that is bringing the counties back to Kildare.
