Rename the Mango King of Arms

I suggest the Landsraad rename this position. For one, 'King' implied nobility, which this position is not. It's just the guy in charge of heraldry. Second, we need to stop cramming the word 'Mango' onto everything. It's lame.

Any suggestions for a better name. Maybe Chancellor of Arms. Or Herald of Shireroth or something that is more fitting?

Can't say I mind the loss of the Mango part from the title but King of Arms is a fairly well established term, although alternatives exist. As far as I can recall I never formally issued a Steward's decree on this, although there was this exchange:
Malliki Tosha wrote:I propose we rename the position the "Mango King of Mango Arms of Mango".
(Fri Aug 28, 2009 12:15 am)
The Khan of Vijayanagara wrote:I have the legal power to do this, don't I?

If so. Done.
(Fri Aug 28, 2009 12:27 am)
but mercifully that never went any further. I can't find any formal act of creation by decree save for Anandja waving her hand vaguely. The Landsraad probably has a clear shot on goal with regards to deciding this one. Then again the Chroniclers of Arms are grouped under the Kaiser's Court so I do still feel vague protective of it as a crown institution (however unofficially instigated). Hmm.

Edit: As long as you don't rename it as something too daft, like say the Jess Queen of Ponies I really don't mind.

Fine. Shirerithian King of Arms then?

Could we not, however tenuously, connect it to our quasi-mythical history? The Me’Jiliad Notary of Arms for instance?

We could. And I would approve.

The M’Jiliad Notary of Arms, if you want the modern spelling of the name.

Excellent - that then is my preferred option.

What is Me'Jiliad?

In Vanderveer I was Master of Arms and personally prefer that title.

But then, it's not up to me, is it. :document

M'Jilliad is the actual family name of Raynor I (and that entire line)

Thus representing his line's continued custodial role in the Imperial Republic? Sounds good to me.

The M’Jiliad Master Notary of Arms? Just seeing how merging it with Ryan's idea sounds.

The title of the King of Arms of a nation (I do want to keep the King of Arms bit) is usually tied to something that symbolizes the nation. The Scottish herald is called Lyon King of Arms due to the lion rampant being a symbol of Scotland. I therefore ask what, more than the mango, is a symbol of Shireroth?

If the King part is met with great opposition, I would be partial to Herald, as in Herald of Arms.

The sun symbol is older than the mango symbol - the vergina sun in particular.

The Sun King of Arms sounds cool and much less fruity. :document

I've never seen the Vergina sun as a symbol for Shireroth. Is it from back in the early days?

I've never seen Mangos as a true symbol of Shireroth, other might, but I always thought we got kinda silly with our obsession with mangos.

The sun is also the symbol of Audentior and the Apollo sector at large. Which probably means that everyone is going to turn against it since that stuff is oh-so anti-Shrieroth.
