Well it
is a different login for roleplaying purposes. And because of the kerfuffle raised (and the fact this account has access to SEP and IAC, and on Gralus is the chief admin) I've just kept this one for OOC purposes and am keeping that one for purely roleplaying. But its a bit more than "Oh, Erik's changed from Erik VII to Erik VIII." I'm trying an experiment; a bit like one Bayen tried with Phineas (where he introduced the Phineas character, said it was him initially and then proceeded to do things that the Bayen character wouldn't, and said afterwards it was an experiment to see how far one person could get by the power of their words alone, without the pent up authority and auctoritas and armies others hold). I really hadn't thought immigrating would cause such an ... effect.
But if you haven't noticed, in the what, two years now I've been here, I've always been Andreas
the Wise. The Baron of Atterock wasn't Andreas - it was Andreas
the Wise. The Count of Melangia wasn't Andreas - it was Andreas
the Wise (or Cla'Udi when Andreas the Wise was busy elsewhere, eg during wars). The Minister for Trade wasn't Andreas - Andreas
the Wise - hence I found it necessary to ask if you chose to allow me to continue in the position OOC even though IC I've left. And yes, the Andreas
the Wise character is very similar to Andreas OOC - perhaps too similar (Bayen's criticism is that I haven't developed the character from when he arrived three years ago. I don't think that's quite fair, but there's some truth in it).
So I decided to stop playing as Andreas the Wise, and try some other characters for a bit; and so it didn't seem right to keep the account name that has been so long associated with him. You don't have to treaty Al'Magroth or Graham Lot as not controlled by me OOC if you don't want to; but I'm treating them as IC accounts and so I'm carefully trying to avoid using them OOC etc, and would prefer you didn't treat the
characters as an extension of Andreas the Wise, because they're most definitely not. In my mind, at least, it seemed a noticeable difference between Erik coming back as his grandson; and two entirely different characters of very different origins etc. And even if Mr Lot says he was Straylightian originally, it would be pushing it to claim that Al'Magroth has always been a Shirithian, and so immigration seemed logical. But fine, ignore the experiment if you will. Just when things start to get exciting, don't expect OOC requests to work.
Oh, and the NPC bit - well, 'Minor Character' would probably be a better way of phrasing it, but in Gralan lingo NPC has come to refer to anyone who is not the main character, who always has the same name as the account. So I'm not Andreas
the Wise anymore - just the various accumulated minor characters of that account.
