I just see a strong tendency in Scott to defend his position by any means possible, even when he's been called on it.

Scott, I never responded to that plea where you reminded me of the time everyone came to my defense against Diga. I'd just like to say this thread reminds me of that time, except now it's like everyone who's disagreeing with the guy who isn't me is trying to come up with the most terrible reason for it
Harvey, of *course* it was terrible when Scott edited other people's posts. That's the whole. fucking. point.! I edited Vasroe's posts and nobody (except Scott) called me on it since everyone hates Vasroe. Scott edited the posts of someone who's actually capable of defending himself to bring out the fact that yes, in fact, it blows to have your posts edited! And now because nothing Scott ever does can be right, you're stumbling over your own arguments to get to accuse him of hypocrisy. And Malliki, yeah, defending a position you've publicly taken, that sure is a real terrible thing to do. Why, I even recall a time you complimented CJ on his decision to not back up a claim he'd made about homosexuality!
Also, Scott, to be honest, I have never actually edited anyone's posts invisibly to actually say something different without making my shenanigans in *some* way obvious sooner rather than later. Well, I think there was this one time I fucked with something benkern said, but he's one of the micronationalists who can take a joke like that, so it was all good. It's just that, you know, that message that says a post has been edited is so... blunt, so obvious, so quickly noticed. It's so much better for comedic timing when you only find out about the edit a bit later.

I'm not saying it's wrong to defend one's position, I'm saying that Scott had the position that editing Vasroe's post was akin to editing Imperial decrees. I questioned that, and instead of retracting or defending that position, Scott proceeded to edit my posts. Now, I see more differences between the edits. Your was funny, Scott's wasn't. Had he edited in some legalism, or something douchy about Vasroe, it would have been.

You're giving yourself credit where none is due, Ari. Your edits were vague and could have gone unnoticed because the modified poll options did not utterly conflict with the contents of my subsequent posts. Also, there was no evidence to suggest that it was you who made the edits. Basically, if I hadn't called you on it myself, I doubt this conversation would even be taking place. Also, since January, I go by Elliot Markham.
Quite frankly, Shirerithians editing the posts of other Shirerithians is not unprecedented; this is not worth arguing about. It makes Shireroth seem unorganized. The only thing that riles me about the editing situation is that Ari, a non-Shirerithian*, edited my poll in a way that showed his obvious pro-Antica bias. And I think every Shirerithian citizen would be of the same opinion. I mean, this is Antican imperalism we're talking about here!
* But since he owns the domain name he can do what he wants, I guess.

I just don't understand how doing bad things is okay even if you have a "point" to doing them. If I said it was bad to kick people in the nuts, and then went around kicking people in the nuts, people would be justifiable unreceptive to my attempt at enlightenment and think I'm just being a jerk.
And now because nothing Scott ever does can be right
I don't *like* picking on Scott. It's just getting harder and harder to think he's a good-natured, sociable guy when my encounters with him over the past... hell, I don't even know how long... have all sort of been like this. I think maybe it's just sort of time I admit that the friendship we once had during the old days has faded and we've moved in different directions and shouldn't really interact if at all possible. Scott, I'm breaking up with you.

If I had been going around kicking people in the nuts for a while, and you told me to stop, and I said no, there was no problem with kicking people in the nuts, so finally you kicked me in the nuts, and I started screaming and yelling about how painful it was and how angry I was at you - wouldn't you have performed a valuable service in changing my mind?

I think at that point I'd just be fairly satisfied that I got to kick you in the nuts.

So, Harvey, does the charge of Scott being a hypocrite still stand? Or is he selfish, maybe, or petulant? Is he keeping a feud? Is he going to too great lengths to prove himself right? Spit it out, there's no end to the things to accuse him of!

Scott is too proud to say this, so I will say it for him.
No.
From you, of all people, no.
Do you remember how, back during the Tymarian days, you did something rash? I don't even remember what it was - I think you might have edited some posts to delete history, or something like that. Scott said - that's it, we're not friends anymore. You said - sorry, that isn't how friendship works, you don't just get to say that when you disagree with someone.
You were right. You taught him a very important lesson that day, and he remembers it.
Scott is leaving Shireroth now, but I believe he would like to remain your friend, and you should message him and talk if you get the chance.

I really didn't remember that. It sounds like one of my better moments from a long time ago. I don't think any of us have had too many of those lately.

What is it with Americans and denouncing anything slightly centre-of-left as being Marxist? Antica is just...not Marxist...in any way.
Also, what the DEVIL is all of this about Scott? I've just checked this thread for the first time in a while, and it seems that some kind of sh1tstorm has erupted...

The problem with America is you need to pretend to be Christian to get elected to high offices.

Yeah. That's not an issue at all here. People here usually frown at people that are overt with their religious beliefs. It's seen as inconsequential in politics, unless you're a Muslim of course, then you're a threat to society apparently.

Upon further thought, Aryeztur, and after reading recent posts made by your fellow Anticans in Antica, you are probably right. And I don't mean that in a terribly critical way. Antica's political power and population have grown enormously since it has adopted the fascist-like course. There is even some defense related boom of economic activity. My only criticism is that this course will probably ultimately be unsustainable, but I cannot say when it will become so. And, additionally, as a side effect of this course, citizens may also find themselves choosing to leave (or perhaps being forced to leave, if it comes to that).

Jeez Elliot, why don't you make a bullshit post failing to prove that Antica is Fascist?
