To appear serious, but actually meaning the opposite - most of the time. Usually followed up by the 'piss taker' (the one who joked) revealing he/she was only joking.
'Hey did I ever tell you you're fucking pug ugly?'

'No you didn't and that hurt'

'I'm only taking the piss. You fucking filthy mongoloid.'

I feel sorry for foreign folk coming over here and not realising that "this is bollocks" and "this is the bollocks" have exact opposite meanings... ;)

We have an expression, "skitgott", which means that something is really tasty. It literally means "shit good".

Canadian and American English lack subtlety. Everything you can say means exactly what it sounds like it means. We have no lingual sarcasm.

This stems from the fact that Britons are notoriously untrustworthy whereas it took honest workers to forge a continent.

Carol,

There is an etemology to this:

1. "That is good"
2. "That is what I mean"
3. "That's the proper way"
4. "That's Proper" (approval)
5. "Thats what I'm talking about"
6. "That's the shit I'm talking about"
7. "That's the shit, right there." (reference)
8. "That stuff is the shit"
9. "That's the shit"
10. "The Shit"
11. "He's/She's/It's/ The Shit"
12. "Da Shit"
13. "Datz da shit"
14. "You da shit son"

No problem. I figured it might disuade you from dismantling the economic system. Also, consider it payment for us trying to thwart your evil rise to power with our own evil rise to power.

I'm a sort of an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of guy. A number of people are having fun with it, so? :)

I'm still giving it away, but it fits with the Maundy money ideal.
