I know that the Arbiter is not the highest officer in the land. I also know that we answer to the Kaiser and Landsraad, only. I also know that it is my DUTY to point out when someone violates the laws.

Please point out where Ardy apologized for violating the Charter and DecreeBook, please also point out where he apologized for this:
The Judiciary are being partisan, one is emotionally unstable, the other is empire building.
At least I don't engage in personal attacks.

He apologized to Jonas which I personally thought took a lot of class. As for Erik, he even said himself that he is angry. There was that 5 post thread where he basically insulted everyone that has helped build Shireroth in the past year. Of course all of that was deleted.

I agree that apologizing to Jonas was the right thing to do. Other than that, I can't really speak for Erik's actions or what he says. I still don't like someone saying I'm "empire building", whatever that means. Perhaps the same as being "wilfully obstructivist".

It was "willfully obscurantist".

Sorry. Took it from memory. Do you think I'm "empire building", or could you at least explain what you mean?

Empire Building usually means willfully adding to your area of responsibilty, not necessarily completely within the rules.

(There is the old saying that power is 1/10th delegated and 9/10ths seized.)

The (overly???)-zealous execution of your duties could leave some with that impression, myself included.

I don't see it as DELIBERATE, however, I see it as an organic function of the office coupled with the general power vacuum in Shireroth at this time. Many Shirerithians pay lip service to the LAW, :document or ignore it when they choose to. :party

It's tradition........

It's not personal. Do your job, it adds to the struggle and the chaos!

Besides if we sue you, wouldn't you hear the suit?

"I demand Your Honor recuse yourself!" :document

"Sorry, we are out of Judges!"
:smashy

Could you? I thought we decided only MiniTrade had power to enforce fines at this point ...

Where did we do that? The Arbiter can of course hand out a fine as a part of a sentence.

C: Economic
1. Monetary Fines

a. The Kaiser, Landsraad and Provost may impose monetary fines upon individuals.

Well, the way Erik talked he could give fines, but he couldn't enforce them ...

Yes. I can give a person a fine, but I can't take the money since I don't have that authority in the bank. You would have to do it for me.
