Newb? Ardy, you've been in mns for close to seven years. Maybe you never truly stop being a newbie in micronationalism until you become leader of the Grand Commonwealth.
Bill also knew his history- but then again, he left though. Ryan did live on a little after his formal leaving mns, but using a Matbaic Pseudonym as my Minister of the Interior early last year. He became inactive tho- that was when he truly left.
Who do you reckon has been an active micronationalist the longest then? Scott?

I bet Ardashir can remember since too long ago, he was just once told history wasn't cool and that to be popular you had to steer clear of Liam Sinclair and historical publication production.
Which is a half truth.
Edit: Ryan Caruso will probably never leave - hopefully his fiancee's the trouser-wearer and can get him away from this hobby.

He's still around, he poked his head in Babkha earlier this year and has been hanging around NB commenting on the new constitution there.

Too true. Liam, bless him, is a good sort of chap but a bit of a Historical Accuracy Nazi when it comes to micronationalism. Hence the Coprieta Standard. By the way, do you think it's right that MNN is advertising that blog? I mean, it's not fair on other news sources, really.

I don't really give a damn; I like Liam, I like the MNN, I like the Standard, so it makes no difference to me. And monopolies always lead to ground-breaking events which give rise to much intermicronational hubbub, so here's hoping.
There's that new thing though... the INS, International News Service or something similar. ISIT and Ocia... no thanks.

Scott S. Would be the longest standing micronational. Seconded possibly by Eric. When Ryan is here he's third and I believe I would be somewhere in there as well.

When I first joined micronationalism, first person I met was Jacobus. He's been around longer than ANY of us.

I think Julien Starr has been around since the late 90's.

A bit in Alexandria but they might have given him the boot for causing trouble. It would be prudent to post on MN.org to find him. He usually hangs out there now. How long have you been active Maksym?

[fawlty towers quote] Ooh, since 1485 [/fawlty towers quote]
Me? I joined back in December 2005, I think it was. Back when you knew where you stood- there were the superpowers, there were the 'medium' nations, and there were the n00bs. Now we have n00bs, dying old-guard, and Shireroth.

Indeed. And Babkha.
It seems that the Novasolan pedants have gone though, which is only to be considered a good thing. Paulovia has gotten more laid-back and less uptight in its new reincarnation, though, which is a nice change.

You poor guy. That explains a lot.
Let's see. The "Jacobus" character was created almost by accident on December 10, 1999. I was a resident alien in Lectoria for a few months before that.
My first MN was off-line. (Cuneiform, clay tablets, etc.) I spent most of my time tangled in the Cyberian morass.
Jack Santucci and Peter Hickey go back to mid-1997, but neither seems to be very "active". Peter currently is CJ in the revived Morovia. Kevin Baugh of Molossia has been active for ages.

Well, Baugh of Molossia is in a different league than any of us when it comes to micronationalism, I think we can say that for sure. Santucci is mentioned a lot, as is Michael Fors- mainly in those droning Cyberian blog reports which seem to have little impact even for Cyberians themselves (stop me if I've offended anyone by now).
Chris McQueeny of seminary fame is a good egg. He's been in mns for a while- he started in Hanover at least into the late 1990s. But then again, he's not the most active either.

I'm not offended. I belong to the Other Cyberia.
V.C. Cyberia caught the disease of bureaucrat-speak early in its life from, I beleive, Alan Greive, who is now inactive. (Thank Malarbor!)

Hey hey
hey- everyone is called a n00b in mns If they haven't been in it long enough. Needn't take it as offensive.

Well said. Almost as bad as the Anthelians back in the day. The VCC even has its legislative body vote on citizenship applications, then posts the results in the national blog. Utterly pointless.

I'm sorry, but a more than a year and a half has passed since I created what is now one of the most overall active nations that I know of (and I get around...).
Plus, there's alway Cräiteland you have to account for as well...

No need to apologise

No offence, but activity doesn't really qualify micronational success. Not that I'm taking a stab at your nation at all, but if you're trying to advertise try advertising a unique culture or something rather than how wonderfully active you are.
And one must remember-
everyone are n00bs compared to Shireroth or Babkha!

Oi, n00bs, stop using the term n00b when you mean newb! Quite different kettle of fish right there...

I tend not to be offended because even though everyone includes me in the "n00b" group, I don't. Let them wallow in their delusions, Liam!

Their loss. *winks*

This goes to our discussion on language. Newcomer>Newby>Newb, nube, n00b.
Re: Micronational Che

N00b has a completely different meaning to newb. Essentially a n00b is an idiot and a newb is a newcomer... it was originally an evolution of the word newbie but these days I'm afraid its a little more complex than that.

OK. In that case, many newb nations would fall into the newb category. Many, on the other hand, would fall into classification as utter n00bs.
Tokidoki, for example is newb.

How about the fact that we are the fathers (and mothers) of the modern micronational magic system?
