Good point. For all our trying to control simulations in micronationalism, eventually I think we all have enough common sense to say when something has gone too far. That's the problem with nuclear weapons and superweapons in RecWars- there simply is no realistic way to measure them.

And they're no fun. I mean, how fun is it to describe the recwar between two superpowers with nuclear missiles shot at each other.
"Mr <Insert Head of State>, we have just detected 5 thousand incoming ballistic missiles from <Insert Enemy Nation>. Now that we've all changed our pants, we need to know what to do, sir." The General's brow was very furrowed.

"Well then. Fire back." Mr <Insert Head of State> was very knowledgeable about these things. A very large button was brought out for him to activate and push. He inserted his key, flipped open the protective cover, and pushed the very large red button. It was done.

10 minutes later, both nations were ashes. We won.
Actually, that sounds like the typical post of a Lovely-spawn minion.

The only recwar which I am aware of where a nuclear exchange featured was between Menelmacar and Babkha against Bar(a with a tilde)cao and Treesia.

It wasn't called the Skerry Island Cluster Fuck for nothing.

Nuclear weapons?! No, thats simply out of the question! Take the number of nukes, times that by 3 and you've the number of ICBMs Lovely launched during the War of Matbaic Liberation. :P

Good times, that war, eh?
Woodrow was notorious with superweapons during the Circum-Reynor War- looking back on it, it probably is true that the only way one can win a RecWar is if the other side lets you.

It's all about whether you want to be the honorable Sir Knight or Monty Python's Black Knight.

"If you don't give up, there's no way you can lose."

Neither. The honourable Knight Arthur gets arrested by the police after trying to attack Castle Aaargh in the last scene, and The Black Knight gets his limbs hacked off.

I'd rather be Patsy. Or the French Knight.

In this context, I think the Shirerithians would fit well as the French Kniggits.

Babkhans would very much fit the Black Knight mould. :p

Anyway recwars usually slump into a kind of grumpy stalemate by the second or third week when everyone is tired and confused having lost track of the sequence of events now that the war has been straight-jacketed into a single official thread stretching across twenty pages, and being irritated by the decisions of the judges who each side is convinced have been bribed by the other side. At this point things trail off, usually with one side accusing the judges of being biased and the judges quiting in a huff - at this point everyone rushes off to write up their account of why they won.

Needless to say all sides conveniently forget to agree upon the terms of the peace treaty they are contractually obliged to conclude at the end of the war.

Ah yes, Monty loves those doesn't he. I remember the next war he was in ... :)

On the narrative causality, I agree with Ari on the principal that it's a great time to step down. But I also agree that Erik's doing a good job and he shouldn't quit unless he wants too. Course, I'm used to rulers staying for a year or two ....

But I know Benkern is totally serious when he says that being head of two states will not work on MCS. Believe me, I've seen people try. The last time it happened the guy gave up and joined the two nations before the rest of us had even noticed he was head of two states. :kaiser

I'm with the OP on this one. The Recwar was just what we needed, something to rile up the nobility and make something "happen", and that's what we're here for anyway, entertainment and enjoyment, and that doesn't usually happen without some sort of conflict and/or polarization.

Look at the Dinarchy/Republic of Antica for a good example. Once the opposition (Dinarchy) was removed, there was no real enemy to fight, and the nation deteriorated. Albeit we had a good run, but in the end, we had legislated all we could, and were starting to get bogged down in the minutiae instead of doing what we love best: whupping some uppity nation's ass.

In today's Shireroth, we see a nation relatively at peace. Sure, furthering cultural accomplishments is great, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Some of us need the excitement, the literary challenge, and the humor associated with a Recwar. And seeing no real intermicronational interest in one (or any intermicronational contact at all, that I could discern at least), we started it ourselves.

The recwar has, so far, brought activity to almost every County in some form, created an interesting plot line that is still following the reality of the situation (the Kaiser has decided not to join in, and has therefore in the Recwar buggered off somewhere, whereabouts unknown), and brought leaders and citizens from foreign countries to join in on the fun, increasing awareness of Shireroth around Micras, and also increasing our chances of reeling in a few converts for our citizenry.

This RecWar has been nothing but a boon to the nation, and I think indulging it a little bit, even by "killing" the current Kaiser and replacing him with a new one (but still the same actual person) would be a great addition to the story.

Yes, but Mors V is so beloved that whoever killed him would have to be tortured, drawn, quartered, er fifthed, a fifth sent to each Duchy as a warning, and his/her head left on a spike on one of the major bridges near Shirekeep.

He could also be killed through a tragic accident. ;)

Alright. I'll kill him accidentally with the troops who were supposed to defend him, I can be Regent or Kaiser for a day, then we see Mors VI! :thumbsup

Simply aim a gun that is supposed to be unloaded at him, pull the trigger and then you find out that there unfortunatly still was a bullet in the gun. ;)

Replace me with myself.. sure... why not.... I'm hiding out in Alexandretta... being sad.... as that place depresses me.... maybe some day I'll have it razed to the ground.. but till that day.. I hold on to it.. dearly... remembering days gone by and lost to me forever... And remember why my hatred and rage were brought to boil and still coldly simmer in the back burners of my mind and soul...
But till that day I keep it alive... as a shrine.. and tomb to the death of things that can never be returned to me...that no longer exist in this world.

...Yeah.. I'm sober... I blame the sleep deprivation and stuff..
