Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
Is there some way to keep the traditional colors (and by traditional colors, I assume you mean the dark and greyish blues) on some part of the tables (or some part of the page at all), while putting a pale color for the post background with darker text? I hate black on white and white on black, but dark text on a pale background is probably a better option. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

Legibility of the text itself isn't really a problem, for me at least. It's legibility of the links. Blindness Is A Blessing

Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
The red can be annoying, especially if it's not a colour you are good at perceiving.Optimally, I like everything being white on black. White hurts my eyes when there is a lot of it.I'm thinking perhaps a change of font might be in order. I find that Verdana is not the easiest to in light on dark situations. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Quote: Moose, two words: STFU, n00b.In all seriousness, I've never had trouble with the current color scheme, but if you're so intent on changing it all, how about making the text right now white, making the links the blue that text is right now, change the background to that other forest thing someone mentioned, add in the new logo, change the purple-gray we have going on to something else? That's my spin, which would probably end up being ugly, but meh. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Any interest in applying that to the Temple of Lumina or some similar forum so we can see it?

"I've never had trouble with the current color scheme"I'm the same way. It's just that some people are intent on needlessly changing things. I'm trying to get my two bits in before this place looks like Alexandros again . 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

In other news, #DBDBDB is a lot easier on the eyes than #FFFFFF. Go check out Yardistan. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...Edited by: Gryphon Avocatio at: 8/26/05 0:07

Could you give me the theme of that Yardistan thing? (go to theme settings on a forum and tell it to export, then post what it gives you)

Hey, you know what you can't do if you don't have a gold community? Export themes! The good news is, I only changed a few things from this forum, so I can just tell you the differences:Text = #DBDBDBLink = #Active Link = #FF0000 (that's the HTML default I think, so you can change it).Everything else matches the current Shireroth colours (I checked with KColorChooser). You guys can dish it out over pictures. But please, move the forum pics back to the left-hand side of the board. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

p211.ezboard.com/fshirerothfrm113This is Nick's design plus my top bar and a few slight color changes. Good? Bad?And Ryan, if you have a big wallpaper sized version of this swamp background, can we have it?EDIT: I take it back. I randomly changed the background to something similar but different because I could get it at a better resolution. Looks eerily familiar, doesn't it? Like it better or worse than this one? Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
I'm not quite gone yet...I don't see the background. And bubbles. The bubbles are older than you are (though admittedly a relatively new addition to the board). 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
You should be able to see the background. Can you see it atimages.shireroth.org/foru...sback5.JPG ?I so prefer the gradient header to the bubbles...I'll give in if I'm outnumbered, but not without a fight.

Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
I can see it now. Much better looking with that...I still want the old Malarbor back....you will pay for removing him.

I'd actually like to remove Mal from the front page - I think he has adapted to his new role as announcer. I realize we made a compromise Long Ago, but perhaps you would relent if everyone told you how bad it looked?

Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
The Malarbor on the front page is not the original Malarbor. *I* told you how ugly it looked, but when the time came you dropped my compromise and put that piece of distorted crap up as our background when we had art majors telling you it looked like hell. The original is the one I am talking about. I want that one. And, to a lesser extent, I want the bubbles. No Compromises.I think for all of the work I've done around her over the years I should be able to get at least one picture on one page by request.

The old Malarbor is the worst graphic in the history of bad graphics. Not even Shireroth's love for ugly old stuff can save that one. It's confusing and it tiles like whoa. How's this for a compromise: We keep the bubbles (although I would like it very much if you found a way to alter them so that there aren't the awkward lines every inch or so on them) but I replace the main page graphic with the dark swamp or the dark swamp variation currently in Lumina? Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
Quality of the stretched out Malarbor VS that town background. New background wins! And the bubbles would be ugly, even with the line. I'd rather go with the gradient. In the end, though, I'd rather sacrafice the background to Malarbor than the gradient to teh bubbles. He isn't THAT ugly. Besides, there are ways of making the old Malarbor better without that horrid stretching on the main page. Who's the putz who did that, again? And Nick is 100% correct when he says the forum images need to be moved to the left. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...Edited by: osmose1000 at: 8/26/05 8:15
Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
What the PRH are these bubbles you people are talking about?Do you mean the blue pixel artifacts that show up in the banner?I wasn't gonna ask, but so many people bitching about bubbles has piqued my curiosity. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.

Re: Forum Redesign Poll II
Someone needs to make another stab at the new title, and this time not make it all MS-GIFy, and more custompallete-y. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...
