CJMiller is hereby granted citizenship with a Minority period of 28 days. As per the regulations on the matter, he cannot hold official Imperial Office in this time period, nor hold land in Fief.

I will not be extorted by threats of inactivity. Nor will I submit to the whims of bullies and those with personal grudges. I admit I'm not the biggest fan of CJ myself. But I have seen no evidence that he is any worse then Jess or any other annoyance we've dealt with. If he causes problems, then I will deal with them. If a future Kaiser expels him, that's not my problem. But I will not put of with the bullshit I've been dealing with over this issue.

It's not because you're a 'long-term veteran' that you're more important then anyone else. I haven't seen much proof or reasons to not allow him to join. And if it comes to insults, the veterans aren't any better.

Erik wanted me to find proof. It took forever, mostly because the chatlogs aren't that easy to sift through with a slow server and everything. When I complained about this Erik made up his mind anyway, and you see the result here. The bottom line here is that me, Harvey, Icebreaker, Ruth from Antica and Hesam all have spoken to CJ at multiple occasions and for various reasons hate his guts. The main reason for me is that he is a blatant racist, I think Hesam's main objection is that CJ is just a general fucktard, and so forth. The fact that Erik completely ignores this makes my support for his Kaisership fade away. Hence my resignations.

You did more then complain. You demanded I stop being a "coward". You demanded that I had to go your way and keep him out. You called me a coward one to many times, you demanded I stop trying to consult the masses or whatever your phrase was. You demanded I take action. So I did. If you aren't happy with the result. Now, I didn't give him full citizenship. He's still a minor. And I'm not even sure he'll show up, which just pisses me off more. I don't find him worth all this. But I can't just deny someone citizenship because a few others don't like him. Would you care for me to act that way toward you? If Jonas, Corey, Scott and a few other said you are a terrible person and an asshole, would you want me to simply expel you offhand? I went with your word since it was unchallenged, for a time. Then it was challenged, and I had to act accordingly.

Stepping back, I guess the bigger issue is one Harvey and I have debated a few times - do we let everyone who's not a spy or a criminal in, or do we select for only the best possible citizens? Does all new blood get in automatically, or is citizenship a seal of approval that means we like someone?

In the particular case of Shireroth, I support the first option. The feudal system makes it impossible for an idiot to cause real problems. Usually having a few troublemakers around just increases activity. And I'm a big believer in investing in people in the hopes that they become more mature later. I think it paid off for Bill (before he was driven away) and for Jacobus (who was viewed as an undesirable during the whole Cyberia thing).

We could let in a thousand Jesses and CJ Millers and not be any the worse for it (I think Jess has become much more mature in the past year, though no one's noticed since they're so busy attacking him). I'm more scared of people who are smart, tricky, and have values totally antithetical to ours (Archetype is a good example of this). They're the people who can really screw up a country.

Obama's a terrorist because his name sounds like Osama? Everyone knows Hussein is Arab for "terrorist"? All black, brown, and yellow people are terrorists (including the Japanese, who CJ's obsessed with?). Every single Middle Eastern country is terrorist (including Israel)? Poland and New Jersey as terrorists?

This is so obviously trolling that it boggles my mind that people could miss it. Now combine that with the evidence from elsewhere that his political views are pretty moderate.

I wouldn't be opposed to a policy of zero tolerance to trolling even if it's obviously not serious, but then let's apply that to everyone, not just CJ. Heck, let's ban Harvey for saying "fuck Lebanon". How do we know he didn't mean it?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

Scott, cjmiiler is me, making fun of CJ. And I assure you, we triple checked. We asked him over and over if he really meant it, and the answer every time was yes. A smart person, or even a mildly retarded person, understands that when you say something extremely offensive that you don't really mean, you say no when asked repeatedly. But Antica is apparently contemplating letting him in there, so why not join them.

Sure they'd admit they weren't being serious...unless they were a troll. But forget it. Some idiots once took something I said out of context once and tried to convince people I was racist, it ruined my life for a while, and now I'm oversensitive to false racism accusations. But the more I read those chat logs, the more I realize that even though CJ doesn't really believe any of that crap, he brought it on himself and he's not worth my time to defend. I could say the same thing about everyone else in that chat, but (unfortunately) no one's attacking them.
