a petition for a friend...

Post by UEC »

ok.. he didn't ASK me.. but it seems only fitting that Nick (still a citizen...) be granted the County of Yardistan... it makes so much sense... and be allowed to join the Barony of the Holy Lands of Shireroth (which seems to consist of old Yardistan..(duchy)) I could proly get him to show up and officialize it. It just saddens me to see Yardistan without a Count/Anarch, and Nick have no county, even if retired. When I was/am retired I retained Monty Crisco. E. Yardistan is dear to me, but if Nick can't even be bothered to even save it himself than I don't want some half-hearted attempt to save it from you Erik for him. No offense, but Nick doesn't want to be here anymore, so why not open it up for someone else? Of course I will comply if my Duke wishes it so, but I don't think its a good idea. There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

Is Nick even a citizen anymore? It's too bad Osmose emmigrated, as he would have been more deserving of Yardistan than Nick.Edit: I can't read. Nick IS a citizen, and considering he BUILT IT UP OUT OF THE GROUND FROM SCRATCH I'd say he's infinitely more deserving of Yardistan than Moose. No offense to Moose; good guy, great leader, but not the founder/ideaman/original Anarch/YAC/YOHB/YUHB. Viatax Sitadi Axdivijink Regigoraauk

Maybe so, but Nick did not contribute to Yardistan in years... If he wanted to be Count, he should at least be willing to work in Shireroth, and he already made a post abotu he pretty much has offically quit micronationalism already. Why should he be Count if he isn't going to do anything in the nation? Fucking Gods... this is the second time I've seen this attitude....maybe 3rd..maybe more..."They aren't currently active? Than they don't deserve anything.. they are scum for having lives, Shireroth should be above all..." And it makes me sick.. (Yes, Bill.. I'm looking at you...).. You did this to Zary several months ago.. Nick put several YEARS of his life into this fucking nation... and into Yardistan. So now that he has to focus on school, he is worthless to you.I figured it was because of his many YEARS of unwavering loyalty and service that he was deserving of the Countship of Yardistan. Yeah, he's busy.. yeah he can't participate right now, but that doesn't negate the vast background and history of loyalty and service from him. If nothing else he deserves the countship as an honor and award for his years of service. When I realized that Yardistan would most likely fall to someone who knows little to nothing about it, I felt the need to protect it. And when I found out Nick wasn't even a count for his years of service, I felt something needed to be done about it. Counties are supposed to be given for proof of loyalty and service, and if Nick hasn't proven that in the 3-4 years he's been a citizen, minister, noble and/or kaiser, than none of you have either... and none of you deserve a county either. I'm asking the Kaiser that Nick be granted a county for his YEARS of work here, and that it be Yardistan to protect the history and culture of the isle. Putting it into a barony is secondary, I just noticed old Yardistan was now "The Holy Lands of Shireroth" and thought it would be fitting to have it with the rest of Yardistan. This is all symbolic. Yeah.. he's retired... yeah.. he won't be able to do anything with his county. But it's the thought that matters. What kind of a nation would we be if we did not honor such a long-standing and great member of this community and nation. We give counties to newbies, I think we can give an island, developed by Nick from basicly notihng for several years to Nick. But if you want to say Nick isn't deserving of anything because he knows that real-life comes first, go ahead.. and we will have stated what we believe and stand for in this nation. Nothing. And we will have stated how much we care about are citizens and friends, nothing at all, unless they are active. That is not how we should treat our friends and citizens. E. On a side note. Nick did not ask me to do this for him. I am asking as a friend, and someone who respects Nick and Yardistan. And believe Nick is deserving of the title of Count of Yardistan, if for nothing else than symbolic reasons and to show that we still care and respect our citizens, even when they cannot actively participate, or keep track of the current goings-ons of the nation. Bill, if we were talking about giving him a duchy, and thus a ruling position that needs an active holder, then yes, I would agree with you. But this is a county we are talking about, and thus an absent lord will not hurt us. If you feel an icy chill...the Conglacio is amongst you

Erik, why don't you show some respect where we show it to you?Again, you flaunt around as if we owe you something, just because your founder. Your heritage gains you no right You can save your pompacy when you take the throne, yet again, and steer Shireroth towards doom, while we work savagely to fix it.Frankly, is to much of a lazy ass to get on here, then we do n't need him. What Shireroth needs is not those rewarded for their connections, but a society where activity grants priveleges. He wants it, make him work through it.

*Stands up on the soapbox*I am adding my voice to Erik's in asking that Nick be made Count of Yardistan. The fact that he is not around to do much with it is entirely beside the point. Yardistan is a part of Shireroth's heritage. Has it come to mean nothing? And Nick was largely the one responsible for its position! Is that to be put by the wayside? Have we forgotten the concept of honoring people for their past deeds, whatever present direction their lives may have taken?Yardistan should be protected, and this would be a good way to do it. I don't know if it should be made part of an active Barony, mind you, and if Nick isn't around his County ought not to count toward Landsraad votes. But at the very least a County of Yardistan with Nick as Count would protect a valuable piece of Shirerithian land and culture from being utterly muddled with. And lest we forget, it isn't as if there aren't a truckload of other Counties around to give newcomers instead of Yardistan. There is no reason NOT to extend this as a ceremonial honor, to Nick and to Yardistan.

He has no plans to never return. That's all I know. I'll back down from the secondary idea of putting Yardistan with the rest of old Yardistan in the Barony of The Holy Lands of Shireroth. Though doing so without the additional vote makes sense to me.This isn't a question of activity. I'm not saying we give the countship to him for what he's doing.. but for the massive amounts of things he has DONE. E. And you wonder why new people have so much trouble getting involved in the nation. The whole place is becoming a museum, with statues and relics dedicated to old heroes of old battles. If you're giving Nick Yardistan, why not give Goldshire to Jadie? And let's take Elywynn and give it to Mari Greenwood. Joeseph should definitely get Kilare. Erik is entitled to most of Brookshire. Scott should have Hyperborea.Scott wrote an essay about the difference between the Shirerothian state and nation. I liked it a lot. This argument right here sort of proves the point. Nick is part of the Shirerothian nation even if he can't come on the forums, so the state considers giving him something, even though he'll never use it. Meanwhile new people join the state in hopes of joining the nation, but they see so many parcels already divided out and they're stuck with leftovers. Kind of like how the MCS map is always getting people coming in and being fursterated about rather strict policies when none of the original members had to deal with any of that crap.Very amusing. I have Hyperborea, Sai, and if anyone tries to take it from me I shall be most wroth. If Erik wanted Nick to be Kaiser, then yeah, that obviously wouldn't be a good idea. But we're talking about a county here. There are fifty-ish open counties, so it's not like he's taking one away from someone else. Giving Nick Yardistan is just a way of saying that Nick is Yardistani, in the same way if we owned Jasonia it would only make sense to give it to you. This really isn't such a big deal.

Considering the information Erik just posted, probably not.The only reason I have time to bounce around harassing you people with nonsense is because I'm at a university with no standards. I use my honorary citizenship powers to declare that Nick is both a brother of metal and cool, thus deserving of whatever honors that you can bestow upon him. It's a fecking county fer christsakes! I swear, you people grope onto your pixels like they're the holy grail or somethin.Seriously. If you want to honour people, then come up with an honour system and some decent awards and rankings. Stop giving out little parcels of land. Cause sooner or later you're gonna run out, and all Shireroth will be is one way overcrowded cemetery.Come up with a unique medal/title for Nick instead of giving him land. Something like The Yardmeister or other related Yardi... uhh... things.Hmmm... The Annexator... hehehe...I understand Erik's point of view. But if this sets a precendent, then it'll just keep going. Whereas medals and awards are something you can never run out of, and always have the option of making distinct and unique ones. Especially if you took it a step further and made them official with an awards page on the site. Something like Gotzborg and Attera did. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.
