My departure

Post by Gryphon Avocatio »

Hmm...the other Gryphon's leaving too. This is a historical night. Many of you may have noticed that I haven't been active. At all. I went on a temporary LOA a few months ago, and, well, I kicked the habit. So, like my former compatriate Joseph, I too am leaving. Not emigrating, just pulling an Erik and taking a permanant LOA.My life has changed direction. Shireroth hasn't been a priority of mine in a long time. What I'm doing now is a form of closure.I'm not mad at anybody. This is a great place (despite what Joseph has just suggested). He is right, though. I remember at one point Moose came to me complaining that he had been given yet another award, and he was almost insulted to find out that I have never received any despite all my contributions. But my contributions were made long in the past, before there were any Imperial Orders. I don't really care. Parts of me are in this nation, and that's what counts most. Not idiotic titles, not signature lengtheners. I've been a duke, several ministers, the steward, an imperial advisor, even the Kaiser. But I could never have done any of that if I didn't start out as an ordinary citizen.I've been here longer than any other active citizen. I feel that my time has flown, though. There have been many times in the past year where I have felt like the old grandfather figure who get's up and shakes his cane at everybody whilst feebily shouting "In my day...." More and more, I feel that I don't have a place here. I mean, I do, but I still carry on a shoulders a sense of being out of place. To top it all off, Shireroth doesn't really hold my interest like it used to. I would make a comment about the current affairs of the nation, but I don't even know what's going on anymore. When you here things from Erik first, you know you are out of the loop.I have but a few things left to say:-This nation is old; its customs and its traditions, hallowed. It is your duty to maintain them. Do not merely wipe them away in favour of some new change. This may be conservative, but there are reasons for many things.-Have a rebellion every once in a while. They stir up activity and they can be fun.-Any hard working citizen can become Kaiser. They just have to prove themselves.-Be nice to the Yardistani, they could own you someday.Good luck to you, Shireroth. I do love you. You have been very good to me. Don't let the Babkhan's get you down.-Nick the Yardistani, Gryphon Avocatio, Imperial Advisor, Kaiser Wyltheow I, former Duke of YardistanPS: If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. If you want any of the projects I have ever been working on, IM me or email me nick (at) shireroth.org and I'll help you out.PPS: Moose, IM me. HEY EVERYONE! NICK'S GONE! LET'S CHANGE ALL THE LAWS AND THE FORUM COLORS WHILE WE STILL CAN! - Scott

Don't leave! We love you! Yar. Have fun wherever you go. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Another one bites the dust... may Hasan look favorably on your future. There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

Good luck, and may you never run afoul of Loki's mischief... TOO much, anyway.
