Shireroth Heraldry.
I was with my gf in the library today. I had just finished my research for a paper, and was with her as she went through some anthro books... then I looked at the shelf and saw these huge books... so I started going through large ass books... then I found one... on heraldry... and read some of it.. and got an idea.
Shireroth needs its own system of Heraldry! Its own system for making Coats of Arms.
We've talked about it in the past, but we always worked with old european systems. We need our own.
As I see it we can have elements that signify.
*The owners rank (Kaiser, Duke, Baron, Count)
*major jobs. (minister, praetor, arbiter)
*Duchy (and maybe barony)
*Awards and knighthoods possessed (important)
*other significant things
These wouldn't be so much family markers, but personal ones. Related purely to Shireroth.
And... for added bonus...(ignore the double positive), this would make another business niche. Someone who would know the system and could make arms for people who can't or are to lazy to make their own. And since some jobs might change occasionally, everyone will need to update theirs now and again, making sure their is business.
So.. some examples I was thinking about.
Each duchy would likely have a 3 color scheme which would be used to distinguish that on a coat. Brookshire for example would likely have gold, dark blue and dark red. As on our flag. Yardistan say, red, green and blue. Elywnn: light blue, white and (???), Kildare... well... Each Duchy would have to decide.
We could have bars or whatever they are called to distinguish rank. diagnal from upper right to lower left = count. diagnal from left to right for baron. horizontal for duke and vertical for kaiser. And if you have multiple then you have multiple levels. I am a count and a baron. So that's two diagnal bands. And maybe for stewards, a half sized band of the specific type. Emissaries for Dukes would have their own symbolic component.
Also, we have emblems for various orders and awards, this would give us a place to display them.
We would need to set a size for the image (though shrinkable for avatars), and standardize various main components. Then subdivisions could add come components that might be specific to their cultures. And since we can tell what duchy you are in by the color scheme, we can prevent confusion is similar symbolism is used.
So, what do you think?
What should we use?

Re: Shireroth Heraldry.
Some images to symbolize ranks and jobs
Kaiser(ess) - sword in the shape of a scimitar for the Ruling Kaiser. (a crown for a kaiser(ess) by mariage)
Steward - a shield (sword and shield for Ruling Steward)
Praetor - a scroll
Arbiter - a balance (balanced)
Assistant Arbiter - a balance (unbalanced and smaller)
Emissary for a Duke - A torn scroll. (scroll from the praetor symbol, torn to symbolize imcompleteness since they are only representing their duke)
MoMA - two crossed sword
MiniTrade - a coin or a bar(s) of gold.
MiniImNat - a stamp?
MiniInt - a scythe (interior I think farming and internal stuff)
MiniEx - a quill and parchment?
The various orders have their own emblems already.
Count - ?
Baron - ?
Duke - ?
Kaiser - ?
Citizen - Blank (azure?)
Maybe use background textures/patterns for noble titles. if multiple divide the background with the highest rank getting priority in cases of odd numbers. so if I war count baron and duke. Duke would get 1/2 the background while the others would get 1/4th each.
Colours
Brookshire: Dark Red, Dark Blue, Gold
Kildare: Dark Blue, Red, Pale Yellow.

Re: Shireroth Heraldry.
This sounds an absolutely awesome idea. I've been needing a good personal coat of arms for ages and would happily pay for one of these. Now, just to decide colours for Kildare ...

However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Re: Shireroth Heraldry.
This is an excellent idea! I believe Natopia has something very similar to this... I'd say the system of ranks should be perhaps based on a series of Mangoes above the Kaiserial crown, above everyone's shield.
The crown will symbolise the citizen's loyalty to His Niftiness, and maybe
1 mango: Count
2 mangoes: Baron
3 mangoes: Duke
10 mangoes: Kaiser
That's my idea, anyway...
We should also allow people to have bits of heraldry from their micronational history to demonstrate Shireroth's diversity.

Re: Shireroth Heraldry.
I like the mango's except the 10 for the Kaiser. Though I do think the textures dividing up the background is simple and has a nice look to it. maybe use the mangos to denote how many years the person has been in Shireroth.
And I agree on the personal diversification.

Re: Shireroth Heraldry.
I think it's a nice idea. Kildare would have a coat with a (dark) blue colour and... well... some other colours.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Re: Shireroth Heraldry.
Yeah, I'm trying to think on those ... how about Red for the blood shed on the land by the numerous warlike Dutches, Pale Yellow for the scrolls of history that are being written (I'm trying to avoid pure white because if we add in Jonas' dark blue we end up with the traditional red blue white. Ours is more ... dirty white. And dark blue. The dark blue of the background behind the smilies when you post) .... and, well, Jonas' dark blue for the ocean waves that lap against the Duchy on virtually all sides. There, did it!

How about a Malarbor branch wrapped around the side of one's heraldic shield for each Cedrist G-d you're an acolyte or priest for?

Have we made a demon who consumes the soul of those who seek to be acoloytes of more than two gods at once yet?

So, has this idea been developed? I think regulated Shirerithian heraldry is a great idea.

I honestly put the idea out there for someone with some graphics skill to do it. I just had the idea and wanted to hand it off to someone to do the artwork.
Maybe I'll take a crack at it...
