How exactly would this function besides listing companies?

Companies would be paying for use of the forum as a central location to conduct business separate from the congestion of the main MiniTrade forum. People can start topics to sell or buy stocks, negotiate etc. If it works, we can start to expand services provided.

If we are going to have an economy, we need to start driving it with services. People will want a forum to sell/buy/trade stocks. Why not have a company to run that forum?

Why not have the state run the forum? That way it can recoup erb as a 'rent collector'.

I think its good, but I think we need to expand the services that companies can offer first. I mean, aside from the products themselves, we haven't seen anything new. Graphic Design, Media etc.. these are old ideas.

To actually make something new, we need new services. Ones off the top of my head so far are:

- Military purchases (as in, Dukes/Barons start with a basic orbat, but you have to purchase more to expand it. The Crown then hires the militias when fighting foreign wars. And the militias fight each other during civil wars.)
- Legal Council
- Parliamentarians (people to draft your bill and act ideas for you)
- Purchasing support (ie for 25 erb, a company will use its collective erb sum to support your duchy in the Landsraad)

Then there is Andreas resource economy which we could look at. I think the two systems ARE compatible with some refinement.

My point is, once our economy is more developed an exchange will be more warranted. But there might be more value in establishing it now as opposed to later?

I will create a game service / company (if I think about it... I have one already, unregistered), with games like the CoD-series (I mean with the program RPG Maker 2003). Then you have a new service.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

On Hesam's advice I'll pause approval till this is more discussed.
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

I take it this is the kind of thing that people mean when they say the economy is overheating?

This is great really. I think everyone except me, the Kaiser and the economic staff must be conspiring to make it break by posting as much as possible in this forum to attempt to kill it. Or maybe it's subconscious. Perhaps it is the will of Abbas Namvari...
Vilhelm von Benkern - The Dolphin-...Count
:: Formerly just "benkern"
:: Rook Sentry of the Order of the Vorpal Blade
:: Count of Mar Sara IIRC
:: Former Baron of Absentia AFAIK, before that Baron of Vorpmadal TBH; also Former Duke of Yardistan IMHO
:: Dux Emeritus of the Order of Mischievous Intent

It takes moo to mango!

Posting is good regardless of the economy. So nothing lost there.

People can post as much as they like, but if everything is disorderly the only loser in the equation are the people that ignore the guidelines.

I know - and I was serious it just needs slightly more discussion ... and possibly a change to the One Owner law ...

Well, how bout I get first dibs on this idea when the time comes.

OH..and as for the government itself providing this idea for it's own income, should not we be encouraging companies and individuals to make money, and get it moving. So making this a governmental service would kinda hurt the economy. Further, the SEX would be paying the government for the forum, so money would flow to the government.

You know what? You're completely right. Let some enterprising individual make an exchange (erik) and get the reward.

Oh and of course you can get the credit for making the exchange. So long as I get the credit for inventing the system and Andreas/Benkern get the credit for implementing it. :p

And I get credit for writing the banking system. It also makes sense for me to run the Exchange, as I control the actual physical bank programming. So it means I can integrate the two for people.

Oh by all means I'm assuming you'll run it Erik. I just want the Ministry to set down some clear guidelines that apply to your exchange and any future ones ...

Would the purchases be retroactive? Or if we have noble titles, may we keep them without more our-of-pocket expenses?
