Renaming

Post by Jess »

Im super-serial this time. I was looking through some old maps on the MCS and discovered that this county used to be called Mo'Adib. Should we rename this county to Mo'Adib? Vote Now!

Do I qualify as an elder? In micronationry, probably, sort of.

In Shireroth, I dunno. :confused

We need the Kaiser's input on this one.

The ancient name was "Muad'dib".. I think we should go back to the old name, just like I feel Elwynn's old name should be restored :p

No.
Muad'dib was changed because everyone was asking "Huh? Why are these islands named after the guy from Dune?" It was weird and getting in the way of making a culture for them.
Erik's doing a lot of work to make the country more original, and Fax put a lot of work into this place under the name "Naudia'Diva". Let's not frustrate them.

Every name is good for me.

Maybe Saint-Jonas? :angel
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Scott and Erik, as eldest statesmen here, have, I think, the most important opinion on this. I would hate to lose the name just for the sake of renaming something. I spent hours reading Fax's amazing stories of this island, and to lose all connection with the past would just be wrong. In fact, if you want some of the flavor of the past, read the archived logs, if still around, and Scott's book, Unaimed Arrow. Then see how much you wish to bulldoze of the past.

I still have the skill trees for the Neligan.

Naudia'Diva cannot simply be renamed. :P

actually jess, yeah, i remembered when i first arrived in Shireroth, i was anxious to gain land, MOLD it to my Will and Create a GRAND DUCHIE WITH FULL ACTIVITY!

and like most dreams, they were crushed and will never be realized :p but honestly, i was told to be wary and adequately research the history of my granted lands, seek out the elders who knew about or knew where to go for such information, and i took that, and continued what i found . . .

anyone who tells you "dont add your own flavor" should be ignored and possibly dropped from our country, as that is what makes our nation unique . . BUT the other facet of this "gem" (yay shiny metaphors!) is that you take what others have set before you and continue it with your own twist . . .

hope it helps to encourage rather than discourage, and i know all those posts can be daunting, but take your time, absorb them, and then go forth.

may the B00/\/\! be with you

er, jess . . i would double check this with the Kaiser . . it sounded like some of the other citizens were displeased with this notion, and although its YOUR county, and YOUR prerogative to do as you wish, ive found it best to get a general approval from the nation and His Niftyness before you set anything in stone
