In the cities of Goldshire, gold isn't as common as one would expect. After centuries of mining the precious mineral that gives the region its name, most veins of the 79th element have been exhausted. In a surprise that pleased locals, and displeased foreign gold investors, a new deposit was found in the hills above Aunum, in the County of Ran. Upon the discovery a local imperial patrol attempted to take control of the site in the name of the Kaiser. After a brief struggle with a mob of angry unemployed miners, the small patrol was beaten up, and cried like small children. A local miner, now employed with Lusterous Ore Treatment and Refining inc. was quoted as saying, "The gold is ours.. our own.. our preciousssss......!". The small man then quickly hissed at the camera crew attempting to get a photo, and scurried with haste into the mine.
