Unless this has already been attempted and failed (it may have, I don't know), instead of using a weird external thing for Shirebank, why not use a phpbb modification that utilizes a banking system inside the forum?

I can tell you straight away that that mod works for phpbb 2 and we're phpbb 3 (for Novatainia we had the old cash mod but couldn't find a good one for phpbb 3 - the one that we did find was only in beta stage and crashed our forums ...).

At the time, Erik wanted to code a bank and we wanted to add in extra features - like automatically summing the number of erb in each Duchy. That's not as important now, but the bank we have seems to do its job ...

We have ShireBank because Erik made it. And he did an excellent job with it honestly. It has some features that are good for our needs, though, like duchy totals.

The mod you've linked is incompatible with our forums, anyhow. We're running on phpbb3, instead of phpbb2 like that was designed for. I'd rather not deal with the issues that would possibly arise from the compatibility problems, and Ari probably doesn't want to manage yet another mod anyway (I can't speak for him, though).

I'm not trying to bash the current system, I'm actually very impressed with it. And thank you for pointing out my mistake in the systems, I apologize for that.

But we should always strive for either improvement or for destruction. And since we are doing neither at the moment, we must pick one.

It's not an urgent matter, it's just something to ponder for the future.
