Getting Started Guide

Post by Nick Foghorn Leghorn »

New here? Here are some places you can go to make sense of what's going on, and find out more about what you can do here. At the bottom are ways to find out about happenings all over the Micronational world.

1. FAQ page. Good overview of the nation.
ShireWiki's Guide for the Perplexed

2. Guide to the Forums. Useful, and worth a glance.
http://www.shireroth.org/forumguide.html

3. ShireWiki. Start poking around and you'll find stuff like:
3.1 The Charter. Like a Constitution, but with a different name.
3.2 Procedures of the Landsraad. You might want to read this before proposing legislation.
3.3 The Lawbook. Want to do something you're not sure is legal? Check it out.
3.4 Guide to Cerdism. As with everything else in this country, the religion is a flavor all our own. This one is Cerdism, but there are others as well.

4. "The Ages of Shireroth" is a (relatively) short history of the backstory of Shireroth. The first and second parts are here, and the third section is here.

5. If all else fails, ask someone. Most of the important AIM handles are provided on the FAQ (see above). If you ever get the feeling that you're out of the loop on international news, check the below sources:

-Micronational News Network. Aggregates feeds from every major news source. Very good resource when the server isn't down, which it usually is.

-The Periodic Spore. Until the View from Benacia comes back from its "short" break, this is the best source for Shirerithian news. Despite the fact that it's written by an evil tree.

-KZFO Podcast The oldest (and only remaining) news podcast about Micronations. Sporadically updated, but good for the occasional nugget of international news.

I've been looking through these the past few days. Since Nick Foghorn is back and probably will update this, I'm just going to record some of the things I found:

The FAQ page on number one looks a lot like the Guide To The Perplexed that Ari Rahikala showed me on my immigration thread (http://www.shireroth.org/wiki/index.php ... _Perplexed), but Ari's is more current. I think the link should go there instead.

The Guide to the Forums seems outdated.

The links to the Wiki are broken. They should be

3.1 http://www.shireroth.org/wiki/index.php ... _Shireroth
3.2 http://www.shireroth.org/wiki/index.php ... _Landsraad
3.3 http://www.shireroth.org/wiki/index.php?title=Lawbook

The View From Benacia alas never came back from its Holiday Break. Maybe use the Periodic Spore instead.

I also found the Guide To Cedrism (http://www.shireroth.org/wiki/index.php ... to_Cedrism) and the Ages of Shireroth (http://shireroth.kuroshiro.net/forum/vi ... =17&t=3482 and http://www.shireroth.org/wiki/index.php ... Volume_III) interesting.

Thank you, o awesome one of the very long wiki article.

The forums FAQ needs to be updated, and since I'm not Minister of Information anymore, I can't do it. Did everything else, though.
