Gah, put it all down to me. With the whole "let's pass the vote at the Front Gate as quickly as we can", I don't know if it's "the majority want a vote" or "the majority want the old flag back" or "we haven't even had the majority vote yet." I'll vote in the Landsraad soonish.

10 people voted. I think that is what we got in active cits... Jadie didn't vote.. but she's getting married. and I'm pretty sure she would vote for the change. I think people voted for the change, not just a vote.

Mr Praetor, please disregard the Khan's vote for the time being.

I will take a time to think about this.

Oh yeah. You took back the need for an Emissary before this was started.

That's it. After having discussed the matter with the active members of the house, the House of Kalir votes AGAINST (nay) this bill.

I said five days was an appropriate time for everyone to express an opinion. It will probably end up less, but thus far it's been less than two days on my poll. Patience, Mr Praetor.

Need I mention again how easily cheated polls can be?

No. If people can be bothered to cheat a poll they clearly have stronger feeling than those who can't and so in terms of me trying to make the decision that causes the least angst, that is worth knowing. If you wanted a fast voter in the Landsraad you shouldn't have made me a Margrave after I made comments about how you should be making nifty people Margraves so they can vote for the good of the nation and not just house biases.

So.... if I'm willing to cheat.. I've earned the rewards?

No, you've just shown that the flag means more to you than it does to other people. Of course, if people had a really strong feeling on the matter (whether for, against, or "vote now") they could always take up the offer to send me money to make me make up my mind sooner.

...bribery and poll rigging? Seriously? On an issue of this 'importance'... I'm actaully gonna say I expected better of you...

My mind did cast back to the JASO auction, and realised that of all things this is probably one of the few things with comparable level of feeling, and I was tempted to auction off my vote; but I decided that would be inappropriate in this circumstance. Instead I just offered the option of buying my interest, which nobody has taken up. I'm trying to capture both the qualitative and quantitative feelings on this issue. If people are willing to go to the effort to pay me or log in with multiple logins to affect the poll, then they're demonstrating that they care more about this issue than others. In that case, since I'm trying to select the option which will cause the least net unhappiness, weighting by strength of feeling is important. For example, the poll has revealed that people feel a lot more strongly about not-using-Shyriath's-flag than the Landsraad front gate suggested. I can now take that into account ...

Look, do you get the whole qualitative-quantitative utility thing? I feel like I've said the same thing in different ways five times. We all know I'm 90% likely to vote AYE to this, because we're 90% sure that's the majority feeling of the population; I just want to not be rushed into to it to have time to make sure. Though I'm starting to get annoyed by you coming across as trying to rush me into it, so much so I'm tempted to vote NAY just out of spite. :p
